Civic Red Tinted Tail Lights

I finally tinted my '97 Civic tail lights and added a slight border around the clear reverse lens for an added touch. I used 5 coats of VHT Red Niteshade and 4 coats of acrylic lacquer clear coat. I also wet-sanded before and after using 800-1000-1500-2000 grits. I still need to machine polish & wax them because doing it by hand didnt yield as great a result. I eventually plan to use PPG clear coat, but this will do for some time.

I've never been a huge fan of that style but they actually came out pretty well, nice job.

Yes. I taped off the clear reverse lens excluding the outer lip to create a different bordered look. It reminds me of my '95 Legend coupes tail lights. Im happy with the result although i will upgrade to brighter bulbs for better daytime visibility.

Update!

I had the tail lights clear coated with body shop clear. They came out great considering I have yet to wet-sand them.

these would look really nice on a red civic, i think they would look awesome on a black civic if they were completely red
