Why would your headlight harness need to go across the front of the car? Seems pointless. Just a bunch of extra wire
Its not just the headlight harness, its the whole harness for the front of the car including the washer fluid pumps, horn, and radiator fan. It has to go across the front of the car somewhere. If you're tucking it, it can either go underneath the top of the rad support, behind the bumper support, or down along the bottom of the frame. Anywhere else it will be visible through the grills. Where do you route it when you tuck your harness?

The main thing I'm worried about is water/road grime, but I put the bumper on and it is nicely concealed by the part of the bumper below the grill.

As far as easy to access, I'm not super concerned. When you're tucking wires, you have to give up some of the practicality. I'll just make sure all the wiring is done right the first time and I shouldn't need to access it.

I remove the washer fluid, the horn wires go Unger the headlight itself and directly to the horn so there's no long wire, and the radiator fan wires are ran back to the fender well to be connected near the headlight harness and protected by the metal inner fender piece thingy lol. Nothing on mine crosses the front, which is one reason along with others as to why i don't run fog lights.

I agree it does keep a cleaner look, but I love my fog lights. I like the looks of them but done properly they're very functional. We have a lot of foggy mornings where I can actually tell the difference. Not the point here though sorry.

Oh alright then. I didn't realize the harness could be separated. I'm starting the actual wiring tomorrow so I'll take a look. If that's the case then this whole conversation might be irrelevant haha.

No big deal =) Its still useful information.

I believe it would be better to do it not across the front, but it would work that way too

So I worked on it some today and I don't quite understand how you guys separated it into two halves. I pulled out the A/C wiring so all I have left going into the passenger side of the cabin is one of the wires from the horn and the ground from the fan plug. The headlight wires for both the passenger and driver's side all come from the driver's side of the harness. I'm not sure how it can be separated into two.

Yeah, the links Alex shared are for different suppliers of parts. Every penny I get right now is going towards a new swap though haha

Stay focused Reed! You've got a great plan on your plate and it should unfold nicely

going with a nice inline fuel filter would only help with the plan, and much easier to do when the engine is out of the car

I'm still working on the harness, but I should have some pics of that soon.

So on to the update. I got an aluminum radiator and slim fan from my dad for Christmas so I installed it today.

First order of business was to retrofit the OEM connector onto the fan motor. I loomed the wires really quick while I was at it.

I used the clip for the connector that came on the OEM fan housing and mounted it along with the overflow tank bracket.

To avoid this happening to the new radiator...

I installed some aluminum mesh in the core support.

I also made a custom rad stay out of aluminum.

Overall shot of the whole setup. The only thing I have to do still is clean up the OEM brackets and buy some hose to connect the overflow to the overflow tank.
