okay so I just bought a 1991 Civic Dx bone stock which is awesome no mods, nothing. 230,000 miles from original owner with all reciepts even orig window sticker!! this is why I bought it. My issue is this car is so damn slow and I am looking for some inexpensive mods to get some more HP, so any ideas would be appreciated. I may even do an engine swap 'cuz the body is PERFECT no rust or dents!!. What engine would work with an easy swap? Thanks!

there are no cheap mods for making the engine in that car noticeably faster. it's an economy motor and with that many miles on it you'd probably just ruin the motor if you did much to it without a rebuild. your engine is D15B2 which had 92hp new in 1991. It's probably worse than that these days.

your best bet is to swap it and for that you'll really need to decide what engine you want and do a lot of research to decide which one of the many choices there are and if you really want to do it at all.

you could just leave the engine in there and not be in such a damn hurry to get places. that engine lasted 230k miles. don't treat it like you stole it and maybe it will make it to 330k.
Swap.

Please research.

agree with everyone else the only way to get any real power out of it is to swap it
and once you start talking about swaps then you need to figure out your budget, power goal, and mechanical abilty in order to figure out what engine you want to swap in.

What engine would work with an easy swap?

I hate this question. Define easy. "I did all the work myself and have my blood in the engine bay to prove it over a weekend and case of beer" easy or "Hey guys, can I bum a ride to work cause I just dropped my car off at the shop to have it back in 2 weeks" easy?

you didnt even answer the question.

any swap will require a good deal of work. a D or B series engine will probably be the least amount of work. Newer engines like K series are going to be a lot more work and cost a lot more.

X2

A z6 or Y8 would be the easiest, and most cost effective. But if you want more power and a liiiiiittle bit more of a difficult swap, and a little more expensive go for B series. I say the B series is way more worth it.
