My EJ8; my slow build.

Definitely. That's why I bought my wastegate. I did research and I found the Precision for a good price and it's a good brand.

The BOV is a no namer, but I'll be upgrading soon.
I had to run a temporary knock off TiAL WG for a while. The diaphragm tore in it, and it seized mid-drive. I had to keep the rpms LOW all the way home, and rig my Turbonetics to work with it. Sucked bad. Also, when I first bought the car (bought it 'boosted' already. It was a mess), dude had a knock-off Blitz BOV on it, and it was completely seized. Stuck completely shut, so the car had bad compressor surge. Thankfully I drove it like a grandma until I got the HKS lol.

I meant buy a fake bov and just use the top where the color is.

I got what you said.

Yeah. I'm just really nervous to boost this car

What kind of pictures? It's hard for me to upload because my work computer doesn't let me and I don't have internet at my house yet.

Thank you!!

Getting measurements for the downpipe. I'm a little concerned with how the wastegate outlet pipe is going to be routed. It looks like a tight fit.

pics pics!! you can always route it into the down pipe depending on how the set up is

I'll have to take pictures to show you how. The outlet port of the wastegate has to face straight up, and the exhaust side of the turbo faces away at a 90 degree angle...

Where is your wastegate flange positioned on your manifold? You should be able to clock your wastegate left or right. If need be have a custom dumptube made, and route it to your downpipe. If you can't, make a super short dump tube that pretty much vents the opposite side of your turbo. It will make your bay messy as hell, though. Carbon build up everywhere.

Yes wastegate dumping in bay is a huge no go.

Basically the inlet flange points directly at my core support, which makes my outlet flange point straight up. I'ts going to have to be custom. There's no way in hell I'm having that dump all over my bay and valve cover.

if I'm picturing it right you can't just turn the wastegate upside down? or will the dumptube hit the turbo? so would the custom one need to have some sort of u bend?

Sounds like you're describing a log-style manifold with the WG flange positioned at a runner intersection like above, right? If so, this is how mine was set up (I had this same manifold actually. For a $350 manifold, it was built very well!). I had my dump tube custom made at an exhaust shop. I brought in the flange (can be purchased off eBay), and told them the diameter of the tubing I want. Showed them the bends I needed, and they fabbed it up and welded it within like 20 minutes. It was welded into my downpipe, and voila. Purdy, quiet setup. You just have to essentially do a 90 degree bend about 2 inches out from the flange with the piping.

^^ the inlet is pointing up on that..she said her inlet is pointing towards the core support so im assuming it looks like many ram horn turbo manifolds do (the waste gate location)

Ahh gotcha. Yeah I know exactly what she's talking about now. Those are generally the easiest to deal with the dumptube. The hardest part is Wastegate clearance against the core support haha.

If this is the case, Alex, just rotate the wastegate so your dump tube flange faces down :P haha

Just get guy making downpioe to mod up your wastegate. Atleast you have someone who can do that stuff. I took my car to exhaust shop told them i needed a dumptube guy looked at me with a wtf look.
