Relaxing most of the day. Need to take a test and have a school meeting later. Much needed day off.

Nice, chill weekend. Had some friends over and drank on Saturday, sat around on Sunday and relaxed.
My sister drives an 02 Mustang GT (hate it.. hate Mustangs/Fords) that she is very meticulous about taking care of. She just recently broke 100k miles (she's the original owner), and when she and my brother-in-law took it to get gas, it wouldn't turn on after they shut it off. It would click like the starter was bad. They had it towed back to their house, and brother-in-law replaced the starter. Still no dice. He checked continuity with the electrical system, all was good. All coilpacks were good, battery is brand new etc.
He put the car on jack stands and took a breaker bar to the main pulley to try and turn the engine by hand, and said it was locked up. My best friend (who is also a Mustang guy) and I took a look at it, and it seemed to be an electrical issue. Brother in law was not convinced. He tore the motor apart, and discovered this:

Those are sheared off pieces of one of the rocker arms. Apparently, 5 out of the 8 on one side of the head was like that. Strange enough, the car ran perfectly fine right up until it shut off.. absolutely no signs of anything wrong mechanically at all. I've driven it plenty of times and can attest to that.

Here's a shot of the back side of the roller rocker assembly. On the right hand side, you can see where one of the roller rockers sheared off. The left roller rocker arm is in tact.

Apparently, there was a ton of tension on her timing chain, and there was absolutely no slack whatsoever. Chances are, the last mechanic to work on it probably over-tightened the timing chain/tensioner. Bye-bye Mustang! Just goes to to show that these cars are pieces of s**t.. did I mention her clutch, flywheel, and rear main seal went out at 60k, with very mild casual driving? My sister RARELY breaks 6k RPM on this thing. I will never own a Mustang.

Damn!! Yeah I've heard way too many horror stories about mustangs. They can sound good but I wouldn't ever want to own one.

Don't they throw spark plugs out the hood? I heardat a couple times.

Recovering from last night, now about to put on my face and tear the motor down :(

They're just stupid. I can't get into them. They scream "REDNECK" to me. They're the poorest form of American muscle. Want a muscle car? Get an old GTO, or a Chevelle, or a 69 Camaro SS (also a redneck car, but it deserves respect).

Probably. Wouldn't surprise me. That car is seriously a piece of s**t.

Atta girl. Get it done!

My buddy owned an 04 cobra for a while. I f**king loved that car. I'd rock one. That whine from the inside was such a sexy sound.

The older Mustangs were pretty cool, but were built as grocery getters, never as muscle cars.

Yet we drive honda that were for mpg that now we have turned into turning machines. Atleast some of us hahaha.
It is, essentially, the same idea.. although, my sister's GT failing would be like a 99-00 Si failing. Not very common with us :P
