b16 or b18 in new 00 dx hatch???

Whats up guys I'm new to this site and kinda to this scene too. I just bought a really clean 00 hatchback DX from its original owner, Everything bone stock. Reading up on and planning on doing a swap. I know i either can swap a b16a2 or a B18c1. whats your guys opinion on either. I do want to be able to pass smog here in California. Any help or advice would be great thanks guys!

i know plenty of people that pass smog in cali with swaps its just has to be done right. or you could turbo the d
if you do swap id say b18

B18 is what I was thinking too. I know i can definitely smog it but theres a lot to go through. Anyone know what Id have to swap other than motor tranny axles ecu to smog a b18 in cali and get it to pass a physical inspection by the ref

What year B18 engine? If you do an OBD2 engine swap into your OBD2b Civic, then you may not have problems. If you want to do an OBD1 swap, then I don't think it can be done legally. You need to do some homework.

And talking to the emissions tech in advance is generally a good idea.
