Advice on purchasing sohc

My 93 is dying. I did lots of calling around today to jdm dealers, mechanics and people with built up cars for sale. A swap in my car is going to cost 3500 bucks. Swapping in a new car will cost me 3500 plus the price of the car. So I have decided that I am going to buy something already done. I am looking at a 95 hatch with b series Dohc turbo ready. Lots done for 3500 bucks but not sure if he wants to sell. I am also looking at a 91 with a b series mini swap and turbo. Nothing special to look at yet and he wants 1800 bucks. My issue is that it is only a sohc. Is this a big issue???

do you mean d series mini me and turbo?
and what do you mean thats its only a sohc with boost you can get a serious amount of hp out of sohc
i just dont fully understand your question
and the problem with buying already done cars especially ones with swaps mini me swaps boost etc is that you have to trust the work of who ever did it so unless its got receipts from a reputable shop then you never know if you are getting a perfect swap or a complete hack job.
Also that price to swap your car must be you paying someone to do it, because you could swap it for a lot less than that.

The 91 sounds like a hack job. It's vw turbo and he said that it only pushes 7 psi and that there is no waste gate??!? I don't know much about forced induction. He said that it was a mini swap. I think he means that he put a vtec head on a stock block. Idk. The price is right.

yeah a mini me swap is a y8 or z6 head on a non vtec block
if you think it sounds like a hack job then pass on it

And yeah I would have to pay a Honda specialist to do it. I don't have a shop, engine hoist and I sold all of my tools when I moved out west.

Just heard back from the guy with the 95 hatch back. He willing to sell. The swap was done by two professional mechanics along with the suspension and exhaust job. He said that it was ready for a turbo whatever that means?? It's leather interior. Nice rims. I will post a picture ASAP
