Part throttle, low rpm studder

Got a 98 civic cx hatch w/ 157k miles, bone stock. Had a small heating problem today, temp would rise at idle (3/4 up on temp guage), temp returns to normal while vehicle is moving. Fan good, small leak at top of radiator at the seam. Cooled off and topped of coolant and headed home (12 miles, no temp probz on the way). About 2 miles from home I get this low rpm studder/miss/bog in every gear (5spd). Seems to go away at WOT and no problem when engine not under load, revs just fine at idle. This is my first honda, picked it up in Oct last year. Check engine light was on when I baught it, something to do with the cat.

Any ideas guyz? Thanks in advance!

Get the leak fixed, bleed system. You may have/had an air pocket in the head causing a hot spot which could of led to detontion. Had a very similar issue happen on my z6, old heater core hose split and leaked everything out. I noticed a lot of spitting backfiring at low rpm and car was running hot. Luckily didnt warp the head.

Or it could be something else IDK

Letting the engine temp get above the halfway mark risks engine damage. Replace the radiator. Also pull the CEL codes.

Radiator swapped, tempz all G. Disconnected battery and no CEL. Pulled code P1399 i think it was, (Misfire Temp DTC). Previous CEL was on for bad cat, doesn't trip the CEL now. How long does it take for the CEL to come on? Googled DTC and found out it's a vague code, could be plugs, wires, cap, rotor, injectors, bad cylinder etc. My plugs, cap, rotor, wires, all good, no dead cylinder also. Test drove again and still same problems.

Any ideas?

Best not to guess what code is thrown. Pull the code(s) by jumping the service connector.

Newbie when it comes to hondas/4cyl's, I'm a V8 guy that needed a good on gas daily driver, lol! How do you jump the service connector? Is that the OBD II port?

Thanks! Do people without scanners do this to get the codes? I have a Auto Enginuity Scan Tool on my laptop I baught for my Super Duty. Hooked it up to my civic and it had the above dtc but my civic didn't trigger a CEL. When I purchased my honda, I hooked it to my laptop and read the DTC, cleared it, and my car would idle low and rough but ran fine. Took awhile to trigger the CEL and the idle problem went away. I know something is wrong with my cat (the one right under the exhaust manifold), was told by previous owner this car eats mufflers. Thinking thats why it's eating mufflers so quick.

Pretty much the only way I've ever checked codes on my Hondas/Acuras. Having no cat is one thing, having a clogged cat is another and can cause serious problems in a hurry. Your issues dont seems to be clog cat related, at least not typical issues.
