I'm definitely thinking it through. The pay is very desirable. The living and working conditions... Not so much. I just wish I could find something in between. I've got a job offer for a heating and air company installing vent hoods and they pay time and a half overtime and I would start out at almost double my current wage. So that's always an option. I've also got a friend who works for a local plumbing company talking to me about a job but I'm not sure how much they want to pay me yet.

 that sucks for u!

And you have a masters right?
I have 2 more classes after this semester then I'm done. Graduate in May 2014. Just interviewed for a few new positions at work so we will see. I have pretty much capped out my job. $42.5k for a help desk tech is quite a bit.

I haven't capped out yet, but I'm about 13-15k. Hopefully I get to move up soon. Soon I'll start making 9.50$ an hour, so hopefully that happens.

Help desk tech. Nice. I myself am also in the IT field but pushing Network Administrator. Might switch to a tech desk/support job as I'm only 36 credit hours into a 94+ credit degree.

But props for going IT =)

So I've got to burn the bridge of where I'm at now.. And HOPE that I'll be cool climbing cell towers. Lol guess I gotta takeachance while I'm young_

Ahaha see what I did there?

Leaving a job is not considered burning a bridge so you shouldn't stress out about that. If you tell your boss to EFF off and flip him the bird and walk out, then yes that's burning a bridge. If you talk to him man to man and let him know that you've found a better opportunity and give him 2 weeks notice, no bridges burned. If you and your boss are tight, he will be supportive of your decision.

Speaking of this.. I just got offered a job climbing cell phone towers for a company called overland contracting. 800 dollars a week living expenses, starting out making 60 thousand a year... Real ass opportunity for me.

The only negatives are that I would be gone three weeks out of the month. Every month. I'm not scared of heights so I'm not worried about climbing the towers, this company doesn't f**k around with safety either so that's not my concern. It's just the time away from home.

It's definitely a lot to think about.

I'd finally be able to get a house of my own..

Gah... What do y'all think?

I got offered a job climbing towers a few months back also. The money would be amazing compared to what I'm making now, but I'm also afraid of heights. Anything over 50ft lol and all the time away from home would be hard. Although I know I would get used to it, that's just not the way I want things to be

That's how I'm feeling. I've got an HVAC job offered to me so I might jump on that. I just wish this job could be anything but climbing towers. I would love an oil field job, it's not the time away that bothers me, mainly the climbing towers all the time. I like being on the ground. Lol

Although, this guy that's offered me the job said that the offer will stand until he dies. He said this industry isn't going anywhere, and he's not going anywhere. So it's good to know I can have this as an option if I change my mind.
