Exactly. You never know unless you try, and I fully agree with everything above. Employers dont give a s**t about you once the clock hits 5, crappy pay is just that and gets you nowhere, etc.
I had been running the only Papa John's in Key West for 2 yrs when I had one manager relapse and move away.
Then my other manager stopped showing up because she's a piece of s**t.
Add my supervisor who was in Key Largo (110mi away) being homophobic and couldn't stand coming down to KW even when we get a free room at the neighboring hotel to help out at all.
I left after 2-3 months of working Sun-Sat, 9a-2a, with a 30-45min drive each way to the house. Got to the point where when my g/f would come in, I'd have to go sleep under the desk in the office because I was getting sick from no sleep.
My thanks? A text on my last day (which had been extended a week or two past what I first said against my will) saying "thanks for your help". That was it, no sincerity, no emotion, not even a word in person.
Took a chance, moved 600 miles away, and I am now a supervisor for Florida State University and hoping to transfer to University of Miami, Florida International University or something down there to be closer to home to help with our new company and make real money.
