They were similar, but different. Vault had more caffeine and was quite a bit darker in color IIRC. Surge also had more of a kick to it. Coca-Cola claimed that they were different, but most people couldn't even tell the difference between the 2. It was too far between the 2 that I didn't even notice a difference and I LOVED Surge. I was addicted to the stuff!
