The three S's.

I am currently sitting in my room listening to pandora having an itch to drive since I just filled my tank, but don't wanna waste the gas because of my short paycheck. Damn dilemma.
The Allentown plant for my company is hiring a 3rd shift packer, isnt too far from you is it?

Once again. SECOND BOOBIES. Now third I guess? haha

I've been eating lighter lately, as well. It's making a big difference. I feel better, and don't feel like I've got to s**t a brick house every hour haha.

Man, I feel you. Dropped $400 this week alone on repairs for the coupe (new dizzy, new rad + fan, coolant, hoses, thermostat, gaskets). I have like $160 until Monday. I know that doesn't seem bad, but I'm not used to having that little of money haha.

I have to disagree there. A 250 ninja's top speed is right around 100 miles an hour depending on rider weight. Obviously the bike will be faster with a 120 lb man on it vs a 250 lb man. I think the chances of fatal injury is dramatically increased on a larger bike like a 600. When you have the capability to go over 130 mph on a motorcycle, with little experience, I think the chance of death is much higher than that of a 250cc motorcycle.

However, i do agree that there are plenty of people that start on larger bikes like 600cc's and did fine, but I believe a smaller bike would be much more forgiving to rookie mistakes. As well as lighter/ more maneuverable for a beginner.

Whether you're going 60mph on a 250 or 60mph on a Hayabusa, your odds of dying in the same scenario are probably the same. Yes, a larger bike means you can go faster. But a bike is a bike is a bike. You're exposed to the same amount of possible physical damage no matter what bike you're on.

I've briefly looked at data and speed isn't actually a large factor in the cause of deaths with riders. I think it was 37% in 2008 according to the NHTSA.

I'm not trying to defend people giving advice about starting off on bigger bikes as long as you're responsible. It makes sense to start on something smaller. But I think a lot of people falsely assume that riders die mostly due to speed when that's actually not a true statement.

clearly tesla is not aimed at the regular commuter as they don't make cheap cars.

Energy sources and percent share of total for electricity generation in 2011

Coal 42%
Natural Gas 25%
Nuclear 19%
Hydropower 8%
Other Renewable 5%
Biomass 1.38%
Geothermal 0.41%
Solar 0.04%
Wind 2.92%

Petroleum 1%
Other Gases < 1%

you don't seem to mind being bad for the environment. plus i'm sure humans to many times more dmg to the environment than we do just mining fossil fuels
People only care about stuff like this when its convenient.

Hmm, the benefits look nice. Especially the education reimbursement of 5250 annually. I'm gonna apply and check it out.

Since when did this thread become a discussion about powering vehicles? Get out.
This also isn't a thread for a discussion about applying for a job or going to school in 3 months, but here we are...

My insurance agent didn't say anything about speed being a factor in my rates being so high and also didn't say anything about deaths being the factor either. He said that the rates are high because of the percentage of kids getting bikes to big for their skill level and wrecking causing the insurance companies to pay out constantly. There is a reason why insurance rates are higher on a big cc sportbike compared to a smaller one or even a harley for that matter.

Yes traffic is dangerous. Just as dangerous on a 250 as it is on a Liter bike. Difference is when you are going 60 and a car pulls out or merges into your lane, with experience you have the mind set to get out of that situation safely WITHOUT panicking. Panicking on a bigger bike means trouble. Again, it comes down to forgiveness. Smaller bikes are more forgiving to newb mistakes.

Also, you are less likely to go 100+ mph on a 250 as it isn't possible. It is also quicker to obtain that speed on a bigger bike which is EXTREMELY dangerous to someone that doesn't have a clue what they are doing. It is dangerous enough in a car let alone on 2 wheels. THAT is another huge reason why insurance rates are higher for big cc sportbikes.

Why do you think insurance rates are so high for Evo's and WRX's? Speed not a factor there? Same thing with a high cc bike.

You also failed to realize I wasn't being serious.

It's 1:35 am and I don't know why I'm still up. Gotta fall asleep soon. Getting my hair trimmed today and taking my mom places.
