what happened?
I was tightening my alternator belt, and the one time I don't disconnect my battery I shorted it out with my ratchet. So I'm pretty sure I blew my main relay.

I know I know I was in a hurry. I usually always disconnect mine too :( But I'm so scary broke I can't afford a main relay right now. So I'm driving the Golf again.

Damn. Talk about s*** luck.

I didn't disconnect my battery when I tried changing my alternator due to a bad pulley, then when I tried taking my alternator out, it wouldn't budge, so I changed the belt and it seemed like the pulley was fine, so I lucked out there.

I smacked that thing with a lead pipe and a big hammer. It would not budge out of the bracket. It was an hour job that turned into three hours of me pulling, hitting, prying, yelling, and bleeding.

The right tools (and process) make all the difference!

It was stuck on there. I twisted it and turned it, sprayed it with penetrating oil, did everything I could think of that you can do with less than 5 inches of space to deal with.
