Guy will go as low as 4000. Speedometer is out, maybe sensor? Dent on rear left panel. Holes in trunk from previous spoiler. Currently detached muffler for what ever reason, claims he will put it on for the buyer. Interior ok, few blemishes/dents on body. Worth it?

Not enough pictures to pass judgement. The detached muffler is weird.. would ask why it was detached, and try to sift through any bullshit he spews at you. $4k isn't bad at all for an original, matching vin EM1.

I wouldn't have even hesitated. I'd own an EM1 for $4000 ALL DAY. Looks like it was posted on the 3rd. Are you sure it's even still available? Clean it up, wheels & drop, and it'll resell for everything you have in it all day long. No brainer UNLESS there is something he's not telling in this ad.

Miles? Looks like a good deal, stock em1s are hard to come by. And I bought my em1 without the muffler, the flange rusted through and it fell off.

Pulled the carfax. Has 8 owners, been in one accident but not salvage. Mileage inconsistency car fax shows 160,000 miles, doesn't bother me because car runs fine and will probably rebuild eventually. Break pads have plenty of life. Genuine em1 according to door panel, title and "B16A2" on the block. VTEC Kicks in nicely too. Passed emissions a month ago. Clutch a little stiff. But I have decided to get it. Buying it Saturday, through a personal loan everything has checked out. His story is he's gonna use the 4000 to help him get an s2000.

Damn, 8 owners is a ton. Who knows what was done to that car.

I LIT THE BONFIRE AGAIN!
8 owners could mean it was either bought by people, probably younger who couldn't afford it and may have been beaten to death, or there is something underlying that nobody wants to deal with on it, so it stays on the market. People don't stumble eon these accidentally, they seek them out, I would have a mechanic check it out. But, $4k? Sounds like a deal!

Ehhh.... It's a decade old though... and a Honda. I do agree that most people seek these out and hold onto them for a while so 8.. yeah, it's odd. But I wouldn't use it as a deciding factor. I can add a +1 to a BUTT load of Hondas in the last year that i've sold so if people are looking at it like a reason to pass, sucks for them. Most have been in fantastic shape after I'm done with them (and the few piles of poo were spelled out in detail as to why)

EDIT: One thing to consider is who you're buying it from. Does the guy have a motor hanging from the tree in the back yard? Or does he have a Mercedes parked in the garage space next to it? You can tell a lot about the car from the guy handing you the keys.... As we all know

All of my cars I've pretty much only been the third or fourth owner.

Eh. Guy sent me a text saying he crashed it. So a no go.

On to the search again. Found a pretty clean one but guy doesn't want to show me it before he shows it to this guy at 3 tomorrow. Bank closes at 12.

There probably is no other guy. People just say that to make you think that you better grab it fast before someone else takes it. When I bought my em1 the guy said he was having someone look at right before me at 12, and I could look at it at 12:30. Well he called me at like 12:10 and said I could go ahead and meet him lol. Ask the seller if he can meet before then since the bank closes, its worth a shot.

^ This

I pull this move on every car I sell. Works nearly every time. I also always tell the person looking at my car that there's 2 more people coming later today (Even if he's the only dude i've ever talked about the car LOL). Then when he makes his offer and it's under my asking price I kindly tell him i'm going to hold out for the next two interested people and see what he says. If he raises his price to meet my drop dead sell price (Ex. selling on craigs for 5k but in my head i know i'll take 4k... or what ever), i'll take it. This also works nearly every time :thumbs up

Gotta know how to play the game! It still blows me away that people will make me a full price offer and not even try to talk me down. That's half the fun!

Well that guy I pushed, even offered him full price and no he said he'll let me know after. I was even working a deal where he'd pay cash on top of a trade. He wanted a 323ci(bmw) I know someone who has one. I was gonna have them do the trade with the guy putting money on top and I'd purchase the car from the one he traded to. I got a text from him last night saying he still had the car but I am already in a deal with a dealer/mechanic for a 2000 ebp si. Told him if that falls through I'll let him know.

All depends on if bank approves the car from dealer. Carfax suggests vehicle has 160000+ miles. Listing said 120000 dash says 4000. It is really clean though. This one has only had 4 owners according to car fax and one accident way back and a theft way back. But no salvage, no rebuilt all clean. Runs real nice, looks like it'll need a new engine mount driver side, bleeding. Possibly new oilpan seal, not dripping but some grime under there. Vins match up. Gave him a deposit, said he'll hold it until tuesday so I can get decision from bank.
