I Changed out Auto Pedals to the 3 Manuel Ones....Took Auto Shifter Case out &Cleaned out Engine Bay.
I have no idea what had been done to mine when we purchased at 368,000 miles but I bet it was a lot.Im jealous of all you guys who have 200k+ miles and have no problems. Mine got 173k and all kinda s*** wrong with it. Today I replaced a coolant hose that blew while driving.
Thanks. Do I need to spray it with the sticky gasket stuff?yup. regrding the d15b7 gasket, can do the autozone/Oreilly method, or the OEM way. even the OEM is fiber-type gasket, not the MLS like the z6. Not sure if Cometic or other aftermarket make a MLS version for the b7
shouldn't need gasket seal for the head gasket. as far as the bolts, get new ones if you can afford it, otherwise reusing the originals should be fine. I don't remember the serv manual specifying to use new head boltsThanks. Do I need to spray it with the sticky gasket stuff?
Also is it ok to re-use the head studs?

Although I don't currently own a 5th gen, they have a special place in my heart, and I WILL own another one, eventually. But to address your jealousy, "we" don't have problems because we address then before they become problems. It's not all about shiny parts, you gotta maintain everything too. Any idiot with a tool set can work on a car, diagnostic skills are what makes a technician. I've worked with numerous guys that we're "certified" and had huge toolboxes slap ass full of snap-on tools that couldn't diagnose their way out of a wet paper bag.
I always refer to them as "parts changers" I can't even begin to tell you how many times good components have been changed because they were chasing a problem. s*** used to piss me off, that's why I got out of the business, that and a bad back, but mostly that.
Don't chase, diagnose.
/end rant/
Unfortunately, you're missing something, somewhere. The thing about it is this, although it's not an exact science, it's kinda like math. There is only one true answer. You say you've diagnosed the heck out of it, and I don't doubt that, I've been there many times. There's something, however minimal it may be, that you're missing. Keep looking my friend, the problem is there, it's just hiding.
