2000 EX Coupe build questions.

As some people might have seen, I am new to the Civic world, having just decided to finally get a civic about 2 weeks ago. My civic is currently all stock, with 133k on the ODO. I have a few questions for some of the members here.

Currently my Civic is Auto, with a stock motor under the hood. One of the things I have planned is a Manual conversion (Further down the line).

The Motor, I am trying to decide if I want to just Rebuild it, and build it up, or do a swap eventually... I've heard the motor can be a nice SOHC with the right work done to it, is this true? Part of me would really like to build on and up the stock motor. One of my old friends has a boosted one in his civic and its pretty sweet, clean car too... But I'm not really sure if I want to swap or not. With 133k on the Engine itself, do you guys think building it might just be delaying me having to swap anyways? I replaced my spark plugs with Iridium plugs because the ones in there were fried, and next weekend I plan on doing a compression test and seeing what thats like before I make any final decisions.

The goal with this car is to make it Clean. Make it run nice, sound nice and look amazing.

What are some pros and cons with working with the stock?

It is a DD, but my commute is about 2-3 minutes, so I have a lot more flexibility in what I'm willing to do. I don't want too much power, as I don't plan on dragging it at strips. More so, show it off. So I'm just trying to pick a direction to go.

Well civics are fwd so you cant really drag. leave that for the rwd people and their nissans ha-ha. Well its all on personal decisions but if you are going to do the tranny swap you might as well take the moment to also get the engine done or swapped. I -have one myself and its a damn sleeper. I have a built sohc, but like I said. preference.

Wow. Leave it to RWD huh?

Haven't heard of SpeedFactory's FWD 7 second record breaking stock chassis civic?

Just saw it, hes got some niice numbers. I guess I misread when I scimmed through. thought the op meant drag as in drift ha-ha. Ive seen some good Hondas and that one goes on my top 15.

Reminds me of when I saw a Mkiv get something around 6.27 secs. the owner of that supra owns around 20 cars and has around 3 supras and bunch others.

OP, tell us how much you want to spend, and how much power you want to see and then we can start making suggestions.

1) What's your budget for everything?
2) What's your horsepower expectation?
3) Show us a photo of a Civic you're inspired by so we can help you with what you may need. If you can't find any, click on the link in my signature and check some of the links I included.
