My dad was let go from his job today. No warning or nothing, they just eliminated his position. Very high chance he will have to pack up my mom and brother and move again. If that's the case then Im gone too, no way in f**king hell am I staying down here 2k miles from any real family or friends.

. That's why I'm glad I have my job. Never heard of a lay off since they opened over 45 years ago. Hope things work out for you guys.

Ouch. I've been laid off a few times (companies closed). It sucks, but in the end, it usually opens better doors. Hoping all works out well!
What's wrong with extra hours?
Because it's not extra hours. I just worked extra today, I have to now cut them from another day, so I'm not working Saturday at all now. I'm covering receiving because our receiver is on vacation, so I was supposed to have 40 hours. Well my wonderful assistant manager who's power hungry decided to cut me a half hour Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, so that was a whole two hours knocked off. I was splitting Wednesday and Saturday, 4 hours each.
My assistant manager kept making me stay because our compactor was broke and he didn't feel like sitting back there to open the door for the repair guys. I was going to come home and go back to bed so I could rest a little before having to go work at the auction tonight since I won't get back till like 10 and have to be up at 4 tomorrow. He kept dicking me around and we had issues with some product and and I wasn't having a good day to begin with because our lovely employees at the warehouse stack pallets too high, and I ended up clipping one on the dairy cooler door frame and orange juice broke all over the floor. Because I worked 9 hours today, he made me come in at 5 tomorrow instead of 4:30, so I have a total of 36.5 hours for the week, 3.5 less than what I should be getting.
I was told by my internal auditor that he was not allowed to cut my hours back a half hour because the receiving hours are company policy.

What is a civil suit supposed to accomplish? As a manager myself I would laugh at you and wish you the best of luck with that. Threatening to sue really means nothing and nor would you really get anywhere without a huge pile of cash which he won't have.
