Installed aftermarked radio, but no sound comes out.

I have an aftermarket radio which I hooked up to my 96 civic using the recommended wiring harness. The radio turns on and everything, but no sound comes out of my speakers. After that didn't work I bought the harness that includes the keyless entry, but when I hooked that up the sound did not work either.

Did you make sure ALL the wires were COLOR MATCHED to the corresponding wires? Did the speakers work before installing the radio?

Yes, all of the wires are correctly soldered to the corresponding color. The sound worked fine with the origional radio I have just taken out.

Are you testing with the FM/AM? if so mabey you forgot to reconnect the antenna, other wise take it apart again and try the stock one. If it works, and the wiring is connected correctly for the aftermarket deck then ill say it's a issue with the new stereo!

I just tried out the old factory stereo right now, and sound works fine for that. For the new one the antenna was plugged in and so was the AUX wire.
It's very possible the radio is toast. It's a used radio from my brother's old car. He kept it when he sold his car. Anybody know how to test out the sound on the radio?

Tap your speaker wires and get a drill battery. If you power the speaker wires up you'll get a pop out of the corresponding speaker. Make sure you blue wires are connected together. What harness are you using and what trim level is the car?

It is a 96 civic ex. It doesn't have a keyless entry anymore because one of the previous owners removed it when they swapped out the engine I believe. Blue wires are together too. I'm using the normal harness with 13 wires. And my radio uses all of them but the orange one labeled illumination/dash. That shouldn't change anything though, should it?

Nope, It wouldn't.. my setups don't have the illumination ( orange)!, is the blue wire ( remote wire for a subwoofer) connected?, if its connected ( to subwoofer), that's fine. If it is connected to the harness ( blue wire from the radio harness to the blue wire on the adapter harness) im not sure if it will effect, just remove it, and give it a go... because then usually it may be creating a short because both the chassis and the radio are trying to send power out using that blue wire! , Just a thought hahah
