Build plans

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I'm looking at getting a 92-95 civic for my wife to have as a toy since I already have a 11 sec truck. Thinking a 92-95 civic with a B18b1, custom made turbo kit, aftermarket cams, intake, bigger fuel injectors, walbro 440 e85 pump, custom fuel return setup with fpr. What is the easiest tuning software to use? I tune my truck so I'm not a compleat noob at tuning. Hoping for around 350-400whp. Any info or help would be great

Not terrible, it's pretty user friendly and they have some decent tutorials on tuning. If you can tune with one you can tune with anything these days. What were you using on your GMC?

I'm reading through the hondata tuning guide now. I use EFI live V1 v7.5. It's the older system but works great. I've found several B18b1 engines for around 800. Is that the current rate? Seems kinda high considering I can get a Chevy 5.3L for 600 complete from oil pan to throttle body.
Also, would that motor be my best bet for my power goals? Not really on a budget but don't want to overspend where I don't have to. What is recommended for the cams? It's not going to be a dd but would be nice to take out for a drive around the city every now and then. Would a stage II clutch be sufficient? Double or triple disk? I have looked around but I haven't found my answers. Thanks for the help

Is there a K series engine that's DOHC non vtec? Read that the oil pressure dips and spikes when vtec kicks in

That isn't an issue, it dips because it fills a chamber really quick, nothing more.

It isn't too hard of a swap, just spendy and time consuming. The engine and trans aren't the expensive part, it's everything else.

If you can tune with EFI live then you'll figure out Hondata in no time

We need your budget, as that will help us help you.

It's going to be a build over time. Will start with the motor swap then go from there. So about 5k until the turbo goes on

Currently running 92 civic ex.. N/A b18b1, no ac/ps, with b16 trans (I think?) and I enjoy it but I feel like I would rather go a different option for a swap if I had more time and money.

What makes you want to go another direction? Lack of power? With a turbo it should be a fun little car and still get decient mileage. My truck only gets 12 @ 70mph

Can build the motor in it
Thats what im thinking. What's the need for the LS motor when you can build a bulletproof sohc and turbo it, make the same power, and save money doing it.

I was under the impression the sohc didn't make as much power as the dohc motor. Would it be about the same process? Portmatch the head, better springs and valves, cam. What else can be done?

for that power id personally run b18b or b18a (no difference really). Save you money from going b18c since you don't mind not having vtec.

Research an lsv a bit. B18b/a block with a b16 or b18c head.

Everything can be done for the most part. If that was your real up goals then that will not be a problem with the sohc. New forged pistons eagle rods your choice of head upgrades. I would sell you my cam if I could I want a custom grind but yeah then it's a matter of what turbo you want to choose for your power goal.

I want it to be able to keep up with my truck for the most part. Maybe even be a little faster. For reference: my track times 1.72 60'. 7.6@91 1/8 and 11.98@ 113 0-60 in 3.8 sec. If I can meet my goals with the stock sohc with a few upgrades I can do that. So rods, pistons, some head work, cam and turbo should do it. What are the limits on the block itself?

on b and d series block seem to hold up to 400whp given they are in good shape to begin with
This with a build d series and turbo you should easily be able to keep up with if not beat your truck. Look up on you tube of turbo d series running 1/4 miles.
