So, I kind of disappeared shortly after making my first few posts, work got hectic and trying to find a way back to college.

Anyways, during my downtime, I decided to paint my Valve Cover, Install an Intake system, Replace my front bumper (difficult, found a little damage behind it.) Paint my hood, and now moving on to installing a new Cat-Back exhaust soon. I was wondering, I am thinking about making my next step the header, but I am not quite sure where I should get the header from. At the same time, I'm considering putting a turbo on, nothing fancy just a T3 or T3/T4, but I am not sure if it is worth it. Due to my local laws and "inspections" engine swapping is not as easily done as it could be, and the cops tend to take notice really quick. So I wondering about ECU upgrade options, Cam Options, or any other ideas anyone might have. I will post pics of the car as soon as I get the chance, mind you it is not perfect (hood is a work in progress, trying different shades/glossyness out), but it is better than it was, and it is starting to sound REALLY NICE. (As in better than it sounded when I bought it)

So any ideas someone might have, throw em out there and I'll look at all the options avail to me.

Stats:
2000
EX Coupe
D16 Motor
Auto Trans (Yeah I know I know, maybe doing a swap soon)

Plus if anyone is in the Northern Virginia Area, let me know.

If it's a D16, don't do any cams, headers, intake, exhaust, ecu upgrades unless you're turbocharging.
If it's an Automatic D16, don't do anything at all.

If you want power, turbo it, or motor swap.
If you're desperate for oonly 10hp, by all means, waste $1000's on cams, exhaust, intake, a tune etc;

Save all that money, do a proper tune-up, get 30mpg. So many people are so anxious and try to get more HP, why do that if you're on a budget.
What you can do, is be anxious and try to get more MPG, and with those proper gas savings, you save $$$. With that $$$ you saved, use that for a new motor and trans or turbocharge it.

30mpg? Any 6th gen should get at least 36 (excluding si b16) i get 32 turbocharged. If your worried about inspection maybe carb legal intake header and get an exhaust would be the easiest route, no need to swap out for inspection. You could add a good cam and an obd1 conversion and tune and im sure you would get more than 20hp, then just swap the obd1 ecu and cam out when inspection time nears.

Another option is find a county that doesnt require smog and register your car there then install a turbo and never worry about it unless you get pulled over, you can still hide a turbo setup with some heat shielding though.

If you have the time and money a gsr or b16 swap reffed would get you the most power with least worries about smog time

I'm already getting about 35-36 mpg right now. I appreciate your advice, but I know plenty of people who took their D16s and did some amazing things with it. I'm not saying I'm not considering a swap, but I shouldn't "have" to swap it. And in response to it being Auto, auto ain't always as bad as it sounds, plenty of people choose auto, I didn't really. The car just landed in my lap kinda.

Not blasting or saying you were wrong. I'm just saying that someone can still upgrade a D16 engine if they want. I choose to, simply because its the easiest route for me to take with my car. Everything that gets upgraded, had to be replaced anyways... And when you have friends in the aftermarket industry, its cheaper to modify than it is to go OEM.

Its not about hiding any of the work. Its about the way registration works here. Its kinda dumb. I need a parking sticker for where I live, if my car is not registered to this address it will constantly get towed. I've looked at a turbo, but I'm taking a look at a B16 motor next week, so I might just go that route. The main issue is the bypassing of things when you swap, and here if something is bypassed, emissions will fail every time. So I'm considering all of my options currently and we'll see what the outcome is.

Nothing wrong with auto except for Honda auto transmissions are garbage for any power.

Ain't that the truth. The Auto will be getting swapped eventually. Just waiting till I have all the supplies and the time and space to do it.

I've got the same problem

Hopefully sometime I'll get to a 5 speed, because honestly after second gear the auto trans is just absolutely gutless, you might as well just get in the habit of downshifting to get on any road if you don't mind being rear-ended:lol:
