Hello all, I'm looking to put in a turbo kit for my car. I own a 92 civic hatchback si. It had a vtech engine in it few years back, now has a b18b1 twin cam 2.0 liter in it now with about 15k on it also a ram air intake long with a few other mods. Anyway, I found some kits that will work obviously different prices, this kit has this or that, etc. what all do I need? I can see mostly what I'll need, but I just wanna make sure I get everything I need you know? not missin anything or buy a kit that had stuff I won't need.

azmatic.

Before anything....b18 2.0 liter? Lots of research man. I hate to be one of these guys but most important is research. This question is asked once a week. Just gotta search the forums, and Google both.

its cool, first time here. by what I've read they made them in 1.6 - 2.0 it says b18b1 when I looked under my hood. it may be a 1.8 I dunno. I didn't put it in.

B16 is 1.6 L. B18 is 1.8 L. B20 is 2.0 L.

It may have a different head and bigger pistons to make it a 2.0 but highly doubt it.

How much are you looking to spend? What kind of power are you wanting?

800-1000 for now. Its 1.8 found it this morning thanks for your help in that part. I been looking at Andy's auto parts they have some nice kits for my price range. I'm just not familiar with turbos an what all ill need.

For a full turbo kit your going to need 3-4k. But a basic rundown of parts
Turbo manifold-300-600
turbo 300-2000
down pipe(connects turbo to the rest of exhaust) 150
Intercooler-150-600
Cold side pipes(from turbo to intercooler to throttle body)-200
Waste gate-150
Blowoff valve-150
Fuel injectors-300
Fuel pump-300
Tune-500
It all depends on what you get and what you want to do with it. Don't cheap out on performance parts. Do it once and do it right
Not to mention any driveline or suspension upgrades you want to run

Couldn't agree more. If there's a better brand buy it, bills eat me up so its kinda hard to save, Right now I have a grand to play with I'm probably just gonna go with one of the eight or nine hundred dollar kits from Andy's auto for now till later down the road. just seeking advice from all. thanks btw.

Aaaand this thing is gonna get blown up lol.

Do some heavy research, as others have suggested. If you just bolt on a kit, you're going to blow your motor up fast.

You just decided to do it wrong.

This isn't like buying cereal where the store brand taste almost like the brand name stuff. Junk parts = a junk build. Rarely do people get away with running those cheap kits, and those who do are very lucky or are very resourceful and can piece together a good setup.

^^Thats what I thought at first lol.

OP don't give in and cheap out. If you can't afford to reach your goals now then just wait, save, and do it right. In the meantime research, research, research.

What I did on my truck build is buy the parts as I could afford them. And once I had all the parts I would install them

Good tune alone once you have that is gunna cost you at minimum $200. Take your time and save. I'm 1 year into my build now and plan at least 2 more years. And I have no regrets.

take your time and do it right the first time instead of blowing your engine. build your engine properly and get a good kit like everyone else on here is saying. also to help determine what kind of kit is good for you, figure your goals, whp, wtq, etc.. There is tons of forums and people can help you out.
