I'm too excited for this car.
I totally forgot to share! My father got a miata recently. He retired from the fire department Friday and picked his up on Monday! I've just got to edit the license plate out of the photos first then I'll upload them

It's a 2001 ls model. Five speed, it's got the ground effects, sport suspension, etc. Fun car

Those things react great to boost! Fun little track cars when done right.

I still don't know what year I'm getting. I'd prefer 94-95, but I'd take anything that has a reasonable price.

Shoot for 99-02! My ex had a purple 2001 Special Edition. It was tiny (perfect for her, as she was 5'3 and 115lbs), and kinda hard for me to get into (I'm 5'11, 160lbs), but they handle good, and are nice for what they are! I think her dad got it for like $5500 with 64k original miles. 6spd manual, leather interior, cloth top etc.

As you said, he never could push the R6 to it's potential (the goddamned bike has 108hp!). I'm sure he would have got his money's worth out of a smaller sport bike, but he loved the feel and style of the R6. It fit him. He was considering an R1, but felt it was overkill.

People buy R1's for the same reason that people buy a Lamborghini. Do you think those dudes owning Gallardos are driving them to their full potential? I don't think so. They own them for their own reasons.. styling, lifelong dream, status symbol etc. The same can be said about super bikes like Hayabusas and Ducati 999R's. Badass bikes that all of us would no doubt happily take if one were given to us (myself included. I'd LOVE a Ducati).

:thumbs up
My friend just bought a brand new ducati 848, I forget what package/sub model or whatever it is, it I rode it for a while on a trip and hands down the best bike I've ridden to date. I don't think it was too bad of a price tag either, I'd have to ask him. It's his dream bike.

well because i'm an idiot and i didn't know what i was looking at... I thought i was buying a p20 B000 off a z6. turns out it is actually a p20 A000 off a b7.
it says C5B P20 so i was like... okay it says c5-B- it must be the b000
i didn't know about the stamp by the fill/drain plug. which that one says p20 A000 so i'm kinda f-cked.

on the upside it was only $120 but i'm still not happy that i bought the exact same transmission i already have just because i'm an idiot. sigh

See! To me, picking up a bike like that is more of a lifelong milestone/accomplishment. I'd love to own one.

That's gotta be terrible on highway mileage.

I get 26-28 mostly rural type driving (45-50mpg zones), and I could do MUCH better if I wanted. It would do 30+ doing 70mph easily. That's right at 4k or so. Makes 60 rolls easy as pie, you start in 4th lol so you only have 1 shift to screw up lol.

It's barely noticeable. My only thing against it would be the drone. That's why I finally got a sub =)

You act like a B16 is a race motor or something. Did you forget why they exist? Hint: Econo-box commuter engine. The 5th gear final drive isn't THAT bad. The LS is just longer for longer durations on the freeway.

Then why does everyone opt for the fifth gear ls? Just so they don't have to listen to their car whine? Because I hate the sound of my exhaust.

Because they're wieners.
