Engine problems after a swap - 99 Civic EX

So my friend swapped his 99 civic dx motor into my 99 civic ex car because i blew a hole in my block. I have some questions and am getting some error codes...first is P0325, which is a knock sensor code. Could this be due to the dx motor not having vtec while my old motor did? should i look further into this problem? I am trying to figure this out so i dont have to buy a $130 knock sensor...Next code is P0505. This is the IACV having problems. I can hear a hiss when my car is on, sounds like a vacuum leak...could this be the IACV gone bad or a leak in the intake manifold gasket?

Some more info...car idles at about 1500 rpm, 1000 at the lowest...fluctuates up and down sometimes.
Also, is the car safe to drive for now with these error codes and how i described it till i can get it fixed?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Edit: sounds like air is leaking from something underneath the intake manifold...any ideas?

Edit 2: when car is cold it runs well but once it warms up the engine knocks around 1500rpm, so right around idle. And when trying to shift gears I have to Rev it past that knocking in order for it to get past that hang up and catch. When this happens the car will jerk badly when barley tapping or letting go of the gas in any gear.

It shouldn't be idling that high. 1500 is way too much.

The D16Y7 does not have a knock sensor --> you need a P2E ECU.

Sounds like you have an intake air leak - replace the IM and TB gaskets and torque the nuts and bolts to spec.

He could have a vacuum leak, it had to be a gnarly hole in a gasket to be heard.

I would make sure there is an actual leak and track it down, then replace what is needed.

Bad IM/TB gaskets or improperly torqued nuts/bolts causing intake air leaks are not uncommon.

I was going off this clue in the first post:

...but you could be right. Aside from the PCV vacuum hose, this diagram shows all the vacuum hose connections for the D16Y7:

Ok so my friend just told me that when he swapped the engine my old pcv valve broke (it was a straight valve). He ended up using the 90degree pcv valve from the engine he put in. We were thinking this may be the problem because the hose might have some tension on it causing a leak. So i ordered a new pcv valve and valve grommet and will install them, hopefully fixing the vacuum leak.

You also need the correct OBD2b 99-00 Civic ECU for your engine/transmission.
Ok thanks, where is the best place to get this for a decent price? And is "OBD2b 99-00 Civic ECU" the exact thing i should search for online? Is that the exact name? The engine is running right now, is having the vtec ECU from my old engine damaging the car at all? What will the new ECU do differently is basically what im asking?

PS. sorry for the noobish questions, I dont know much about cars but am trying to learn!

Thanks for your help!

You need to buy a 99-00 Civic P2E ECU for a manual transmission. Check the Marketplace here and other Honda/Civic forums as well as eBay. Somebody might do a straight trade for your current P2P ECU.

The engine won't run correctly and may be damaged by using the wrong ECU. If your state has car emissions or inspections, it won't pass with the wrong ECU.

Ok thanks. Also will my current wire plugs for my old ecu work with the new ecu or do i need to buy an adapter?

That's the correct ECU.
great, thanks for all of you help thus far!

Also, will i still need a new ecu if i kept my old intake manifold and exhaust manifold? I pretty much just changed the block...

Are you saying that you installed the D16Y8 head from your blown engine on the D16Y7 block?
Sorry. That was stated wrong. I'm just using the intake manifold and exhaust manifold from the D16Y8 on the new D16Y7 engine.

Also I used carb cleaner to check for air leaks and found that the idle died down when I sprayed around the top of the intake manifold, revealing where the leak is. So I'm probably going to have to get a new intake manifold gasket. Will probably try to get a Honda one so there are no more problems with it.

EDIT:
I used the intake manifold gasket for they d16y8 when installing the manifold and the vacuum is leaking. should i have used a gasket for the d16y7 instead?
