Hey guys I have a 96 civicthat I swapped with a d16z6 and manual trans. For the life of me I cannot figure out why the idle jumps from 1,000 to 3,500. Ive replaced the iacv, fitv, cleaned the throttle body, checked for vacuum leaks. Is there anything else im missing. Thanks, jake

Put you finger over the hole inside the TB leading to the IACV or FITV. Does covering one of the holes stop the idle surging?

If you cover the top of the TB with the palm of your hand, can you stall the engine?

So what are the answer to my questions?

Put you finger over the hole inside the TB leading to the IACV or FITV. Does covering one of the holes stop the idle surging?

If you cover the top of the TB with the palm of your hand, can you stall the engine?

Sounds like 1 or both need to be cleaned if so. I'll say be sure to spray the piss out of the bolts with PB Blaster or something first, I broke a bolt off for the IACV and it wouldn't back out = replacement TB :(

To answer your question RonJ, yes It did stop the surging before now I replaced both the Iacv and the fitv and it still surges even if I plug one of the holes in the tb.

Does the engine die if you cover the top of the TB?

Have you bled the cooling system?

Yes I have bled the coolant system and still nothing. What do you mean by covering the top of the tb?

there is a hole inside the TB funnel just before the TB plate, he wanted you to stick your finger and block that hole to see if the car stalls.
