My 03 Civic EX engine is running rough. My friend suggested scrapping it. No Rust and it is in pretty good condition. I do not know if it cheaper to fix the motor or buy to new motor or scrap it and move on.:(

What exactly is running rough? Not staying cranked, cutting off while driving, rough idle, hard to start, etc. You are in the right place to get help. Just give us some more detail.

Please elaborate on what you define as "running rough". It takes a lot to make a civic junkable.

- Are you the original owner?
- Have you performed regular maintenance? If your 10 year old Honda is running that poorly then I'm inclined to believe it hasnt.
- Are there any leaks? Do you have to regularly add oil? Have you even checked all the fluids?
- Is the engine making any loud or obvious unnatural sounds, such as ticking, tapping, metal-on-metal screeching, etc.?
- Do you have excessive smoke or fluid in the exhaust?
- Do you constantly smell burning oil, gas, or anything else?
- Does it struggle to accelerate and/or sputters while accelerating?
- Does the ignition turn over alright? Does it hesitate heavily to start?
- Does the idle fluctuate?

My brother had a 2001 black em2 (auto) that was flooded with salt water and he got $600 for junking it. It was a complete car, engine and trans too.

Or was it $400...i forgot lol

But yeah, depends on what's wrong with it. Rust free up here is a huge plus...
