AC noise but not heater, Gas consumption

I have a 99 Honda civic coupe no mods and have 2 questions.

What could be causing the noise it makes whenever i turn the AC on (but not when the heater is on). The noise is on and off. sometimes its quiet, but when I'm at a full stop that's when its mostly noisy but it still gets cold, I think the sound comes from the hood not so sure.

2nd not so sure if its just my imagination but i feel like I'm consuming gas faster for some reason also I noticed arriving at work my gas gauge would be on the half line for example then before going home ill notice it would go almost 1/4 down.

If I remember correctly it normally takes me like 8 to 9 days before its almost at empty from full tank and now it seems to be like 6 or 7. It also feels like the car doesn't have that pull that it used to have from a full stop to moving again. what can I check to verify if I'm losing gas faster than I used to?

Oh whenever I turn my AC it would make noises that it never used to. It sounds like a gurgle or something that would go on and off, its mostly active when I'm at a stop, but it would never do this when i turn the heater on only when the AC is on.

Isn't gurgling a sign of low refrigerant?

you think so, to add to the description of the sound aside from the gurgle sound there is also like another motor sound going on and off, im thinking it might be compressor? when it goes on you'll hear it start then the gurgle then you'll hear it shut off then its quiet. I don't know if that helps?

Just to clear things up a bit more my gas gauge goes down while parked so I'm not sure if that's normal maybe gas gauges take awhile to reflect the correct gas amount while moving and would need it to be still for it to be accurate or maybe I'm being paranoid feeling like there is a leak or something.

BTW Thanks for everyone who replied appreciate the help
