Shuddering during acceleration and low idle

Hey everyone,

I've noticed this has been occuring AFTER I've driven on the interstate. When I start my car up, everything is fine at first. The idle get REALLY low when this happens too. As though it's about to stall (but hasn't stalled yet). Anyone know off hand what might be causing this issue?

What car? Year? Auto or manual trans. The more info you give, the better.

97 Civic but the engine is from an 01 Integra LS (non v-tec B18). 5 spd. CEL hasn't come on at all yet.

Ok, so on my drive home from work today, I stuck to primarily "back roads" and the little amount of interstate driving I did, I was very easy on the car and she did great. No troubles until towards the VERY end of my commute, She started to act up a bit. I blasted the heat and coasted as much as I could. That seemed to help. I don't think she's over heating, but I don't know for sure because my temp gauge doesn't work (I bought a real fricken winner). Could these be symptoms of overheating? Or are they from something else? Again, there are no CEL's on yet.

Ok, so ignore my previous post. I changed the spark plugs and wires yesterday and now she runs like a champ! I haven't noticed the low idle yet, but she still stutters. Nowhere near as bad as it was before, though. I'm surprised at how easy of a fix this was. I'm hoping she doesn't relapse or anything.

I had a similar issue to yours -- it ran fine when cold, but when the car was warm it bogged and ran like s**t.

Issue was caused by an o2 sensor. The readings between the primary and secondary were different, so it didn't throw a CEL, but the readings were screwed up enough to f**k with the A/F ratio and caused to to run super lean.

You could try taking a look at those, but your issue does sound a little different. Doesn't look like an overheating issue.

Other things to try -- cleaning the IACV. When's the last time the dizzy cap / rotor were replaced?

I planned on replacing the O2 sensors soon and that makes sense. I'm hoping that will solve the problem 100%. Cap n' rotor have probably never been replaced. Would I get ones for an 01 Integra (that what the engine came from) or a 97 Civic? Also... what's an IACV? :oops:
