Key Code location on ignition stem

This 40 yo mother of 5 is NOT giving up. Hubby lost the only key to our 95 civic on the day we were heading to get a copy made! Ugh. I have so far today...used a coat hanger to unlock the door and gotten the 411 from the locksmith and removed the housing to find the code needed to make a new key. But I can't find the numbers. I thought I did...there were 3 stamped lines on the top side of the stem where it attaches that had 3 lines: HONDA LOCK/JAPAN/SR6-800. Locksmith says that's not right. What am I missing?! I've looked everywhere! This car has to leave in about 15 hours to transport my son to his National Games for Soccer. Help, please!

You should just be able to give the dealership the VIN number of the car. You can find it on the drivers side at the bottom of the windshield without even needing to get in there :thumbs up

I'll give that a try...why would the locksmith put me through all of that other nonsense? In 100 degree weather? Grrr...where's the humanity? ;-)

In general, people are knuckleheads, unfortunately. Be wary of everything you hear, especially if the teller is biased by financial gain.
