Hello, I am here to get some ideas, and to ask some questions regarding hooking up my 1999 Honda civic ex coupe, VSM, 5spd with 119000 miles, and completely stock as of right now, other than tint,and an alpine deck and speakers. I have owned the car for almost 7 years and bought it with 104000 miles.

I purchased a new car, so my Honda has been sitting dormant for over 2 years,and tired of not using it while still paying for insurance and registration, so I have started getting it road worthy again and replaced;
timing and accessory belts,water pump, PCV valve,fuel filter, battery, full tune up, hoses and thermostat,
new front brakes, replaced all the fluids(clutch,PS,brake,tranny, coolant). cleaned the engine bay, and gotten rid of most of the spiders living in the undercarriage.:lol:

I now want to make it into a fun little toy, and want to lower it with tokico HP shocks/struts and Tein H or S tech springs, throw on some better suspension pieces, replace the bushings with poly, and throw on some 10 spoke 17X7" rims and 205/40/17 tires.

also getting an OEM civic SI upper grille, new smoked HID headlights, taillights, fog lights, replace most of the faded trim pieces, SI front and rear spoiler lips, and removing the front splash guards on the side skirts. Interior is a 9.5/10 and just needs to be cleaned up from sitting for 2+ years. the paint is faded, but the body is really clean with no dents or rust, and after getting a detail job, if it still looks crappy, i will have it repainted.

Welcome. ^^^^^ He is right. You aren't fitting 17's with 40 series tires on a lowered civic. Not without modifying fenders.

really??? I will be lowering the car only 1.2" (H tech) to 1.5" (S tech) and the 17" rims are 7" wide and have a 40mm backspace. They should be OK, but you guys have alot more experience than I with these hondas, so all I can say is thanks and DAMN!!!

Well if i have to roll the fenders a bit, then that's what I have to do. I had to roll my fenders on my 93 mustang, I can do it for this.

I was more about how bad it looks, and rides
That too.

I had 17s on my Civic for a very short period. They rubbed like mad and looked way too big and out of place.

There is a reason why most people go with 15s and 16s.

It seems that the generally accepted standard is 15's on fifth gens and 16's on sixth gens.

17s are too big, they look goofy, and like your trying too hard. just get some nice 15s and call it day.

17's were the size to put on civics back when I was young, I guess things have changed. Thanks for the advice.

yeah, believe me, most of us older guys have been there done that. But they just do not work right. 15s fit much better.
