Well i thought i was going to get into an intelligent conversation, but obviously thats not gonna happen.
Lol why? Because you can't equate wrenching to playing a video game? In the end, what have you gained from wrenching? Something you've put a lot of hard work into, something you enjoy a lot, something that has your characteristics put into it. Some of these hardcore gamers do/feel the same with games. They put in lots of time, and they are happy and proud of the outcome (as I said, lots of people have made six-figure careers out of playing video games). Considering the gaming industry surpassed the porn industry in terms of annual sales and overall growth in 2008, I think their figures speak for themselves. I'm not a huge gamer (like I said, just occasionally), but I can understand how some people get super into it.

Making money has nothing to do with it. U cant seriously sit there and tell me that u get the same results from sitting on your ass playing a video game as others get from building cars or whatever else. s**t, even golf is more productive than gaming.

They arent even close to being on the same level. There is absolutely no comparison.

It's more a matter of "to each their own". The OG's in the car community continually make fun of us and tell us how stupid it is to mod a Civic, but did that stop any of us? I don't really see hardcore gamers as anything different (aside from the fact that fat basement dwelling neckbeards are gross and pretentious). I personally don't get the same satisfaction from gaming as I do from putting hard work into a car or bike, but others do, and I get that. My point: some people have entirely different passions than others, and that's fine.

It all depends on the way you look at it IMO. Productivity wise, I'm sure wrenching on a vehicle is more productive than video games. But in terms of "getting the same results", well, that's grey area IMO. What do you mean by productivity? Long-term results or just an easy way to pass the time? When I think of that word, I think "get s**t done". Some people just like to work on cars and just like to work on advancing their character in a video game. s**t, I'd feel way more accomplished kicking my buddies ass in Mario Kart than I would at doing an oil change. At the same time, I'd feel way more accomplished swapping a motor over kicking said buddies ass in MK.

And I completely disagree about golf. I just drink beer and drive the carts around and eventually hit the ball past the women's tee

thinking of installing CCTV at the house. some weird s*** has been going on...
Those damn cats, man..

LOL! nah its not the cats, unless they're acting together and opening my storage area doors and leaving stuff on my property.
Sounds like something cats would do. Cats are dicks...

You're IT savy -- look into ZoneMinder for CCTV software. I had it up and running / monitoring from an old Dell laptop I used as a server. Worked great for the one camera that I had, though it was USB based. I heard it's almost the same as setting up IP cameras though.

it handles recording as well as realtime? i'd like to do cloudsaves if possible, rather than direct to a HD. should only need one wireless infrared camera, setup with an IP and broadcasting to the router.

Yeah. You could set it up to record during certain times. You can also have it overwrite old recordings after a certain time. I tested that briefly with the local HD, and it seemed to work. Not sure about saving to the cloud though. I moved so I never bothered using this stuff anymore, but I had originally planned on saving to a NAS device.

Also, it's only supported on Linux I believe.

i have a linux laptop that would probably work, in fact doing that i suppose i could just use ethernet in that case since i wouldnt' have to string it all the way to my gaming desktop.

Went to the gun show, I don't need to go to another one.
Went looking at homes in horse country
Putting an offer in on an NSX this week
Pretty much all moved in, just some final organizing then downsizing on all the random s*** that's no longer needed
Don't.
I thought the same thing when my friend died on his. I broke the news to my parents as "Well, I don't want a bike anymore..." but have since come to realize that you can't blame the bike. Everything in life is a risk. You aren't going to sell your car if you lose someone in a car wreck would you? They'll eventually miss it and get another, just keep yours as your next post is a perfect example as to why
Doesn't sound stupid at all. When I was with my ex I did this all the time, just in my car instead of the bike I don't yet have. Good for you for leaving a negative situation and going to clear your head in a positive way
This is what we're all here for I believe, talk to each other and vent if need be.

Oh, and saw you at the gun show today. Car's lookin good:cool:
Yeah... Thank you.

If it puts you in a better place, keep it. They can get rid of theirs, I'm willing to bet they'll both get a bike again in the future. Also, take dude moving out for what it is. Sometimes relationships suffer when the two of you aren't on the same page. It may be good for him to have his own space here and there.
I know it'll be good for us. I'm just worried about a lot of things. If he'll ever want to move back in, what influence his friends will have... my mind is going crazy.

I also have a lot of other stuff on my mind. I'm just really depressed and stressed out. I don't really know what to do. I don't really have any money to actually go do anything, and I'm not getting on my bike this soon after that accident. I don't know guys. And I can't go to Matt because he'll get all upset that I'm being selfish about him moving out.

Test drove a Sequoia from my mom today. Also hopped in a 09 TSX 6spd and took it for a spin, I would ditch my GS3 in second for one of those.

Go get on the bike since you know it'll distract you. If you have a bag, bring your camera with you and go take some pics of WA scenery for us to see.

Or, stop stressing about things that are out of your control.

Focus on work, your cars and/or bike, photography (;)), etc. You worry about you as that's the only thing you're truly in control of and let nature take its course, whatever that may be. And throw some Luke Bryan on.

I honestly don't feel comfortable getting on this soon. I'm going to his wake tomorrow.

I just get worried that our relationship is slowly disintegrating. He used to do little things like want to go out somewhere with me and whatever but he hasn't done that for a couple months... I just don't feel special to him anymore. And the timing of him leaving isn't very good.

My patience has never been worn so thin. f**kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. I hate feeling like this. It's like everything gets on my nerves right now.

My new job is literally just me sitting in a chair at the front desk and writing up visitors passes for the temp workers during shift changes. I press a button to let people in that don't have id badges. So I timed it today, I literally went four hours without doing a single task. I read a book to pass the time today, and apparently it's not allowed. My manager said that Home Depot (the distribution center) managers frown on it, but that she didn't care. She told me to just make sure it didn't interfere with my work. (Delay anyone's entrance to the building, put it up when dealing with anyone). So I did. Well a coworker of mine snitched on me to one of the Home Depot managers. He came out there treating me like a piece of s**t saying "you think you can just come in here and make the rules, huh?"

So he told me "I don't want to see that book again"

Tempted to bring a different one. So anyways, tomorrow I'm expected to sit and stare a whole in the wall with absolutely nothing to pass the time. Zero movement, just sitting in a chair.

Makes zero sense.. I could understand if I was an actual guard and my job was to remain vigilant and keep my eyes peeled for an active threat, but I'm only monitoring one camera. No one can come in through the door that isn't supposed to unless I buzz them in.

Like I said before, going from a fast paced, constantly moving, on my feet all day environment, to this, is torture.

I'm thankful to be working, but I'm actively seeking a different job. As fast as I can.

I'm sick and f**king tired of jobs telling me one thing in the interview process, and the job actually being something completely different.
