I would set $500 aside for tuning alone regardless of what setup. If there's one thing to never cheap out on, it'd be that.So back on topic
OP mentioned to Child, K swap less than $1500. So assuming, with the two numbers tossed around, OP's budget is like $1500-2000. You can get a K for that with a turbo, but I don't know it will stay under that when you get it installed.
But no seriously, women make the car game hard to enjoy...

Okay...
F23 with a transmission $100 (or in my case I traded a chrome tuned ecu for it)
eBay h series Motor mounts less than $100
Dsm 440 injectors. $50
If you didn't get axles with the engine.. There's another $100 for som integra da axles
Exhaust setup including intercooler plumbing, dump tube and manifold $300
eBay turbo, wastegate, bovintercooler $300-$400ish
I spent $500 for my hondata and another $100 on tuning. But you could spend less if you wanted.
Oh and a fuel pump. $75-$100 depending on which you want.
That all should be within your budget. And you'll make torque to go with you hp.
Edit: Or you can go with a k24. Whatever you prefer....I just like sohc
Thats definitely cheap. But ebay turbo kit? Really?
Mine lasted a good while......granted it's not my daily
Ive dealt with them. Ive seen decent turbos from the kits but i wouldnt trust an ebay wastegate or bov.

My numbers on a cheap EBAY setup.
If you have hondata your good. If you over boost it'll fuel cut.
But how long will that last?
Thats a big if. Most people that buy ebay parts arent gonna go hondata
Which is why if he's serious the first thing he needs to buy is hondata...if he's not willing to shell out the cash the he shouldn't bother boosting his car.
