6th gen. vs 7th gen MPG.

Hi.

I'm thinking about upgrading from 6th to 7th gen. Civic. To be honest, I like the 6th gen. shape better but I'm wondering if there are any pluses the 7th has over the 6th. I heard they're quieter than the 6th gen. Most importantly, would a 7th gen Civic give me the same mileage? I'm getting 44 miles per gal. on hwy with my current 5-spd '98 Civic. Any thoughts if any one has experience with both models.

Thanks.

39.7 on a 03 ex. That's highway only.

Thanks for the reply. I think that's not a bad MPG considering that the EX -as far as I know- has more horsepower. Would you say it's a better car than the 6th gen Civic (if you had one before)?

My gf and I both have 2000 EX 5 speeds and average around 37-40 mpg.

She drives 80mph on the parkway, about 120 miles a day, I drive on local roads, about 45-50mph roughly 15 miles a day.

Never owned anything earlier than the 7th gen. I like the newer style of coil on the plug. I've never liked distributors, and getting rid of plug wires is an added bonus. I'd have to think that MPG. on this little car is about as good as it gets for this model. Maybe it could be a little better with a standard tran. When the factory tech did the head gasket, I had him also do the valves, plugs, oil change, cleaned the vtec, etc. And it steadily got better mileage, topping out at 39.7. I also have an 07 civic. There's a lot to like about it, but it's not love. Neither is it great on gas, not like the 03.

Alright. Thank you guys for the replies. So far from what I've read it seems I would probably get around the same MPG from a 7th gen Civic as I do from my '98.
