Si Sedan- What to do?

Howdy, y'all!

New to Si, not civic. I have an 08 Fa5 that is totally stock. I'd like to start upgrading it, but there's SOOO much out there (ECU, intake, headers, exhaust, handling, turbo, etc) that I don't know what order to do it in. Thoughts?

Thanks, friends

What is your power goal?

To be honest, I haven't really thought about the end state. Breaking 200 WHP is great, but the issue is that I won't be dropping all this money at one time, so I'm not sure what order to do it in. I'm not sure if I want to put on a turbo, but if I do it'll be further down the road.

If you do turbo down the line you will be changing everything again so it would be wise to decide before you start.

BTW bolt ons dont do much for these as far as power goes so the only bang for your buck is to boost it.

The mistake I don't want to make is doing something like getting it tuned before I should. For instance, if I tune it after getting headers, cold air intake, and exhaust when I shouldn't get it tuned until I get something else done, I've basically wasted my money getting it pro tuned too early. Know what I mean?

The first step is to figure out what you want to do. The second step is collecting money to do so.

After those two steps, you may or may not need to ask technical questions. Currently you are not at that stage....

I would do research on a turbo system that fits your needs, and just save up for that and the related parts. no use wasting your time with exhaust and intakes if your goal is 200

 The right set of bolt ons is enough to break 200whp. It's not like a b16.

to the OP, I'd start with the most beneficial and most valuable part, get Hondata FlashPro for your car. You'll need it to get the most out of any mod.

I did just intake, header, and a small exhaust and hit 220whp with a head that doesn't flow nearly as well as the k20z3 head the OP has in his car. 200whp is a f***ing joke to reach for K series

You can always get the car re-tuned if you start with bolt-ons and later move to forced induction. You'll already have K-Pro or whatever you decide to go with, so the most expensive part of tuning is done. Re-tunes aren't that expensive compared to buying everything the first time.

Ditto. Im on mobile and only saw Si and assumed the most popular which obviously doesnt have a K in it.

Either way if you decide to turbo you are going to have to start over with most of it so its best to figure out exactly the direction you want to go before hand.

If OP goes NA first to reach 200whp with intake, header, exhaust, and even hondata flashpro... only the intake and header would need to be dropped to go turbo. That motor can stay completely stock and make massive power safely. Selling the intake and header can offset the cost of going turbo.

If I was to do CAI, full exhaust with hi-performance catalytic converter, headers and a tune, where might I be sitting, power wise? I kind of want to compare power with cost - bolt-ons vs turbo.

Thanks, y'all!

apples to steroid injected oranges man. With bolts ons and a tune, you'll just above 200whp in an 8th gen. Turbo, you can push near 500whp with the right setup with a stock internal motor.

But the with turbo, I'd be looking at 5k, with the added fun of knowing that if something goes wrong I could blow my engine, right?

but with bolt-ons (quality bolt ons) you're looking at

$500-700 flashpro
$300-600 header
$200-500 exhaust
$200-350 exhaust

granted you can buy used and maybe find a deal but not much cheaper unless you get lucky. that's a ton of money to get to MAYBE 250 hp. i'd rather spend that money on suspension, tires, and brakes first... then Flashpro down the road. i'd rather have a fun handling car than HP. but that's just me.

will not have anything around 250 hp without cams or nitrous
