suspension adjustment advice for a new york girl that wants to be able to adjust it.

Hi. so im looking for some suggestions/ opinions.
well, I live in upstate New York and around here the roads are terrible. Also winter is coming. these 2 things make my area rough on lowered cars.

My car is lowered on springs with stock struts in the front and the rear is stock height. (dont ask, i got it like that)
Last year I turned into a snowplow.
I wanna raise it back up to stock heigh for the winter but i want to be able to slam it back down in the spring.
Money obviously limits what i can do. but i do all my own work so my only expense is the part itself.

so here's the question...
Coilover Sleeves (with new shocks/struts)
or
1 piece coilovers
or
stock springs for the winter and lowering springs in the spring?

Also Favorite Brands? opinion on ebay parts?

Bare with me, I'm new to the game and yes I am a Chick.
Let me know what you all think!

What is you budget for the parts?
This. You didn't give your budget. That factors in completely.

Bags are the way to go for that amount of constant adjustment but aren't cheap.

If you want cheap go with sleeves or get springs and take them on and off as needed (most time consuming and annoying way to go). Ride will most likely suffer depending on the brand/combo you go with as far as sleeves go.

Best set up if you don't have the monies to drop on bags would be a full length adjustable coil over set.

Keep in mind that you NEED an alignment every time you mess with the height.

Really ill only be installing before winter and dropping in spring. i dont plan on doing this every winter. Hope ill have a winter beater by next winter. Basically the more money i spend on one part means the less i can spend on other parts.
I was thinking good sleeves and new struts would be a good middle ground on price and performance.
but i dont really wanna spend more then $200 max of $500 and that would mean no new parts for the rest of the year. plus it would be almost November by the time i could afford $500

However wouldn't coilovers be easier to install? im like the definition of amateur mechanic. self tough by youtube and a haynes manual

I would just keep saving, or treat yourself to your favorite restaurant a few times on that budget. Suspension is not something to cheap out on, and going cheap will give you more trouble and not satisfy you in any way.

I really need it raised before winter. i had to get towed home from a block away last year when they didnt plow and my front end did. Idk how soon i can have enough money to go all out. We get snow early and i don't work on my car in the winter i dont have a garage.

you can find Progress technology CS2 for around $550-$600 or because you don't seem to mind being in stock dampers Ground Control sleeves.

So just put some stock springs in the front, and keep saving for a good coilover setup.

don't piss your money away on a s**t suspension just because you want adjustability. suck it up and ride stock until you can buy a decent setup. and if your budget is $200-500, you do realize that you really need an alignment every time you raise and lower your car significantly? so $160 a year + coils/sleeves & struts is gonna blow right through that money.

I got F&F type 1 coilovers for around $600. I've rode on them maxed out for almost a year and no complaints

LOL. I don't think a lot of you are looking at her budget. She only wants to spend $200.

Where in Upstate NY are you? I was a free plow service for NYS a few years ago with my Civic, so I know the feeling :lol:
