I am experimenting with powdercoating, and I came across this intake manifold so had to paint it. I never said red, but I know what you mean. I am painting the intake manifold fine textured yellow. 60% gloss Black was another option, but my valve cover, distributor, and header are black. Painting the intake manifold black would've been too much black. The yellow card i have looks good to me, but it does not guarantee it will look on the IM when finished. In any case I can just remove it and paint a diff color. I would like to match everything to the body's color, but I haven't found the right powdercoating red. He's referring to the horrible color combo of the red/yellow.
It's what we consider rice as it was in the early 2000's with everyone painting random engine parts all sorts of wacked out colors instead of just letting it be.
IMO, I'd leave it silver as there's nothing wrong with it.
If it had to be painted, I'd suggest black as the red/yellow is a little McDonald's-ish let alone those are just two colors that should not go together. But to each their own, it's your car. Try some Photoshop if can, or that's a 15 minute job away with me if you can't find it via images.google.com search
