I have a 1994 Honda Civic. The extreme cold hit this week. When I turned the key in the ignition to start the car all the power completely cut out. This had never happened before. I then took key out put it back in still no power at all. I waited 5mins put the key back in turned and had power back, again when I turned the key, lost all the power. Any ideas???? Thanks in advance for all your help.

Test your battery - it may not be able to hold a charge, and the cold weather certainly doesn't help.

Just bought a new battery, Now that it has warmed up today. The power doesn't kick out when you turn the key. But she doesn't attempt to start. Just a single click. Getting a new starter. Anyone else have any idea about power loss in extreme cold?

Don't throw parts at it. Actually TEST the stuff before you replace.

Just because you bought a new battery doesn't mean it isn't bad. TEST IT.

This could be anything from a bad battery, to a bad starter, to a bad alternator, to a bad ignition switch, to poor grounds, to a bad main relay....I could go on and on. Your question is vague and your trouble shooting is nonexistent.

Time to get your hands dirty.....or throw parts at it until you find the thing that is broken. <-------------sarcasm

I just replace stuff and if it doesn't fix it, I just say "oh well it needed to be replaced anyway."

Thanks for the help guys. I tested the battery before I put it in as I always do with a new battery. Nice to come in somewhere to try and learn and instead of getting help to be made to feel like your not welcome. Also I came in having a couple ideas of what I thought it might be, but instead of leading with that I wanted to hear a consensus on what others thought. Have a blessed day.

Well it sounded like you were just throwing parts at it. You never said you tested the battery and we don't assume. You're right it could be a number of things but if you don't say you're gonna run some tests we can only assume that you're just thinking it could be one of those things. We're not psychic

Read your first 2 posts again. Where in either one of them did you say anything about testing anything?

You want help but don't give the needed information to move forward in an efficient manner. It's a waste of time for everyone involved.
