What's Good Everyone! First time ever owning a Honda. I wanted a project and something new. I just bought a 2001 Honda Civic EX a few days ago for a great price. It came with: Rebuilt motor with 40K miles on it. a CAI, lowered on the front (will lower the back this weekend) and some new rims and tires. So first things first. Where do I start with this? Just had all the fluids flushed and replaced. no leaks or spills. Engine Bay is pretty clean but definitely needs to be updated. Running a D17a2 VTEC. Lots of questions because I dont know much about the car itself:

1- Should I turbo or not? IF so what should I use and where can I get it at a good price
2- if not, what headers, CAI and exhaust and where can I get a good set up
3- Interior I want to change most of it to black Im not feeling the tan color where can I get interior parts at a good price.
4- Clutch and Stick what kind and where for a good price

thanks for the add and looking forward to hearing some advice thanks again

Welcome to the site!
1. Do you want it turbo? Do you have the money to do it right?
2. Headers, CAI and exhaust aren't really going to get you very far power wise.
3.depends on if you want used or new
4.Depends on what you're looking for.

1. no - K swap if anything
2. see #1
3. tan with black accents looks nice IMO and would be cheaper.. use that money elsewhere - new suspension, wheels, tires, etc.
4. see #1

welcome

1- Not going to lie I've never had a car with turbo but the idea sounds great. I have a couple grand saved up not sure if that's enough though...
2- If turbo is going to cost too much what can I do besides those three things (Header, CAI and Exhaust) to get a little more out of what I have. Really I just want to optimize what I have to the best that I can.
3- Personally I don't care if it's just as long as it's in good condition. I saw some new Panels on line for $100 each All Blakc which I want
4- When it comes to clutch and stick basically something better than what I have now. It's not bad but I feel like I really have to push down on it for it to go anywhere. I've driven stick before back in high school where it was a lot quicker to shift and I didn't have to step on the clutch all the way down to shift... if that helps any. I guess what I'm asking is, is there a brand on any of the parts i would be interested in putting into my car that I should or shouldn't use.

1- I apologize in advance and i'm not trying to be a smart ass but what is a K swap? Sorry brah never owned a Honda till now or swapped any engines before.
3- I want to start where it'll give me longevity and a great ride. I only ask about the door panels because the ones in it now are broken same with the center console where the E brake is at. The car came with new tires and rims. also The guy before just lowered the front and I am lowering the back this weekend. The only "MOD" he really has is a CAI that he just bought at autozone... Besides those it is all stock.

Thanks in advance for all the info guys much appreciated

1. turbocharing a car is something that takes a lot of research to do it right, do some research and you'll figure out if it's right for you.
2. if you want to optimize i would check your maintenance parts and get the car running as best as possible.
3. you could check ebay too, as well as junkyards.
4. i'm not terribly knowledgeable on civic clutches, but if it's the original stock one you could probably look into getting an OEM replacement as the old one is going out. but you've also got to look into the long term, if you plan on going turbo you might want a heavier duty one.

when it comes to Honda motors.. they are produced by series:

you have your D series (denoted by D1XXX stamped on the block) meaning - single cam (d), 1.X liter, etc. there are also B, H, J, and K.. with a few others in there too.

K series are found mostly in RSXs, 02+ Civic Si, and a few SUVs. K series with a good tune and bolt ons can give you some decent numbers.. especially in a smaller Civic. so instead of wasting time/money on turboing your D series - i would spend that money on K swapping your car (if you really want to see some decent numbers).

but it's your car... if you can piece together or buy a decent kit, by all means do so. but no one but you can make that decision.

No turbo, go with a K swap. The car be much quicker and actually more valuable.

what k series is the best one to use if ever? just curious? and any of you guys have done one?
I've done one.

I would say there is no best one, but there are a few really good ways to start. The K20A, the 06-08 K24a2, a K20a2, k20z1, k20z3, and Frankenstein k24a1 blocks with a k20a2 head.

Yep, they'll fit. I believe 7th gen EX Coupes have almost identical wheels with the exception of the center caps being different. If you have a stock 7th gen EX Coupe... you pretty much already have Si wheels.
