Let me start this out with "I'm a cheap a**" haha I've wanted a good flowing muffler for awhile now since I have a high flow air intake. My conundrum was that I didn't want it to be loud or drone but still have good airlflow. Enter the bmw pre-muffler!

I found this sitting around my dad's shop and noticed that it has a semi straight pipe and sound damping.

So I took out the stock exhaust and cut the flange side off because It made everything fit so well. I then looked around the shop and found a weird shaped pipe, turns out this pipe lines up perfectly with the 45degree angle of the bmw dampener and the outlet area of the bumper.

The sound is perfect to me. No droning and not too loud. Sounds nothing like a ricer but still has more umph to it.

The stock muffler section weighed 15 lbs, the new one I put together weighs 8.5. Lbs so I'll get like .05 more mpg from the weight reduction alone lol.

The power band changed dramatically after doing this. Normally my power band would kick in at 4000rpm. Now I pretty much have a 45degree power band where the car just pulls all the way through. It's a very smooth acceleration.[/IMG]

Would you happen to know which BMWs had that thing? I'd like to hear it on your car as well

No idea... I'd guess a 90's 3 series or 5 series. A 328i or 528i. Something with the 2.8L I6 from the 90's or early 2000's because the tailpipe always came out the side of the car.

As for a sound clip, sure! I'll make one if a few hours and upload it =)

It sounds pretty good. Yet another successful hybrid muffler swap. I have an '02 RSX Type-S muffler on mine. I definitely look forward to a sound clip from the rear. Did you record it from the drivers seat with the door open?

I'll right I'll do one from the rear too, I recorded it from the drivers seat and the window open.
