Alright what is up, i am new here. Always lurked but finally decided to make an account. School is starting up in a bit and i am trying to secure my car with layers of security haha. For now i have a viper alarm, fuel kill switch and removable steering wheel + hub lock. I am wondering what else should i add, i have been looking at the centinel clutch claw, nut locks, and i may add the battery kill switch in a while? Does this sound like decent stuff, any help is appreciated ?

Woah, I guess car theft is waaayy more prevalent on the west coast. Sounds like you have a pretty good handle on things though. Wheel locks might be the only other thing I would add. Welcome to CC btw.

Cheers!

:welcome:

Your car already seems pretty secure to be honest. I assume your kill switch is well hidden.

I hope your viper alarm is two-way. If not,I suggest upgrading to a two-way alarm. Youve added so much already. You should add a tilt sensor as well. That way the alarm is triggered if its raised by a tow truck or by soneone trying to steal your rims.

I believe that anything less than a 2-way pager on a desirable car in a theft-heavy area just guarantees that some and not all your stuff will be stolen, or at best youll only have broken glass and/or locks to repair. Im personally not comfortable with that. You wouldve saved money by just getting a 2-way alarm with 3-4 sensors instead of all the stuff you already bought and will be buying. But whats done is done. If you wont upgrade to a 2-way, then add a tilt sensor for maybe $20. I believe it comes with instructions on how to install it. if not, its easy to search how to do so cuz its an easy install.

I might add a backup battery and siren haha, yeah the interior is all stock haha. Nothing much to take inside, my stereo has a removable faceplate so i always take that off. Steering wheel is always gone too

Here is how to beat all of that coming from a guy that had a very bad teenage run.

1) Stock interior is more desirable on these than 90% of the aftermarket stuff because so many people rice out the interior and you can't sell that junk on the streets, plus a lot of people are looking to de-rice the civic they just bought so dumping the stock stuff is very easy.

2) Removable faceplate? You can buy replacement faceplates on ebay for very cheap, slap that s**t on, and ditch the stereo to someone or a pawn shop. Most of the reason that companies stopped making these is because people found out they don't do much good.

3) Removable steering wheel? Pair of pliers and you have a makeshift steering wheel to get the car to someone that can tow it or to a garage to strip it. Removable steering wheel with hub lock (like NRG's round cover lock), can be drilled out without much effort and then the pliers can be used. Better yet, all they have to do is find out what removable hub you have and borrow one from someone that has one. They aren't keyed differently and are interchangeable (most brands are anyway).

4) Clutch lock. Can be hacked off. They make battery powered sawzalls now that thieves love. Would make quick work of that clutch lock or could just cut off the foot on the clutch pedal and slip it off. Can still drive the car with the clutch pedal without the foot pad if needed. Thieves are very resourceful.

5) Basic fuel kill switch can be quickly bypassed as the pump is right under the back seat. Wire could be temporarily unplugged and direct line could be fed to power it up. Had a friend that remounted and used to take his main relay with him when he left the car somewhere. That would be a better option to set up a kill switch that disables both ignition and all of the fuel system. Not just the fuel kill tapped into the fuel pump power.

Now consider that all of these are easily beat one by one, but a bunch of them together will defeat most amateur thieves. They won't want to hassle with it and will move on to an easier target. The most dedicated ones or ones that REALLY want the car will take it by any means. Your worry is going to be highschool kids like my friends and I were that were good at what we did. Kind of like on gone in 60 seconds but to a very lesser degree obviously. We had people that would tell us specific parts they needed (or wanted) and we would go after cars with those parts. That or tools that would sit there in the parking lot and show off all those flashy aftermarket parts and "bumpin' stereos".

Lol you could buy one of those parking boots that you get when you park somewhere your not supposed to, if you really want to spend some money get a chipped ecu with neptune and get your car tuned, after its tuned you can set a anti theft sequence in the program that requires pressing the gas and brake in the correct order to start the car, kind of like Simon says lol.

Like stated above get a two way pager alarm, sometimes your not close enough to hear the siren and the fob will page you if somethings wrong, also look into a glass break sensor or maybe a proximity sensor even though they are kind of annoying

Damn, and I thought I did good just adding an alarm. You got a lot of security in your car. That tilt sensor sounds pretty cool. I might actually look into that. Had a friend who's wheels were stolen right in front of his place.
