Is it manual or auto? If manual maybe the master cylinder is starting to go or is low on fluid

Please specify your tranny (manual or auto.) and what you mean by "locking up in rev randomly" and "lost all gears"? It sounds like you have an automatic tranny and perhaps your gears arent up-shifting properly or at all, thus reving much higher than normal once stuck in a lower-than-normal gear. If so, have you tried to manually shift the level through gears 2, 3 & 4 to see if it still stays stuck in gear?

It's a automatic, was backing up out of parking spot, car stoped like it was slammed in park 2-3 times it happend, as I was trying to figure out what was going on, got it home forward gears ok shifting fine. Left later and made it two stop signs from home and lost all gears reved it up trying to get it to go, nothing... Came back a hour later to tow home, drove fine, with no problems. Leary about taking it out now not knowing the prob, please help. Thanks
