Are 97 Civic Sedans notorious for wind noise by any chance? The rubber around all of my doors is in perfect condition yet when I reach 60mph it sounds as though one of my windows is slightly down.

I've also noticed that quite a bit of noise gets into d car from outside compared to my previous car. Its also very easy to close the doors, doesn't require much force. What could the problem be if not the rubber?

You window could be off alignment or you could have a bent window reguolator causing your window to sit at a tilt.

I gotta 5th gen, but I got the same problem. I got new weather stripping for the doors, but haven't had a chance to put them in yet, cus i'm missing a couple of the little plastic clips that hold the stripping in, but they cost $2.40 a piece at the STEALERSHIP. Anybody know where I can get them for cheaper?

I have the same problem on my 97 lx and I think it just needs to be adjusted in the track.

Is it easy to tell if the windows are aligned or not? They look fine to me!

typically you will have wind noise no matter which civic trim you have. there just isnt a lot of sound insulation in a civic. if you pull apart your doors you'll see lots of flemsy metal and thats about it except for a thin plastic water shield sheet. i think the air turbulence that creates the noise is from the side mirrors. when i changed out my stock banana mirrors for JDM folding mirrors i actually noticed a decrease in wind noise, i can theorize and say it's because air can get around the smaller mirror easier and there is less of a negative air pressure bubble behind the mirror. but then again i dont work for NASA

^^ :rolf:.

Yeah our little economy car's aren't exactly a comfy and quiet SUV or BMW. But your window really could be sitting at an angle. When you shut your window, hop outside and take a look around the edges where the rubber meets the window. Make sure you can't see the edges of the glass or that any rubber is disfigured and letting air creep in. If you do see that the glass isn't sitting properly, you most likely have a bent regulator (it's what the bottom of the glass sits on as it's pushed up) or your track could be bent too possibly...?

I know for a fact my regulator in my driver side is bent so it causes the upper left corner of the glass to not fully seal against the rubber. I can literally put something between the edge of the glass and the rubber. That's how far off it sits. So I have to push on my glass to the left as I roll it up and it seals properly and I don't hear the wind noise anymore.

no you are right the noise does come from the sidemirrors because as i was traveling i stuck a thin rag through the manual side mirror adjuster and the noise got eliminated well not completely because the passenger side was still making noise and couldnt reach over while driving

yea i have a bent regulator on my passenger window. i locked my keys in my car once and the window was open about an inch. so me and 2 of my buddies got the bright idea to try and push the window down haha. yea no one do that

Just rip open your car and put a ton of insulation everywhere and seal it back up.

Standard Issue

I had the same problem with my previous car 98 LXi and after a lot of testing i found out that noise was coming from the exterior leather protection of window frame ...as the car gets older the leather loses its flexability and become hard and slightly leaves a gap between the glass and we you reach 60 mph or 100 km/h you start hearing the noise.
