Hey ppl.
I have a 2000 Civic Si (thats an EX 2 door for those down south) in auto. I bought it used in May, and the past week, it started losing a lotta power (regardless of what gear im in). noticeable amounts. If i floor it, it just wont go, it'll be very very laggy. Also, VTec wont kick in. and the shift outta 1st into 2nd is a rough one. and engine is much louder at higher rpm's.
I had a friend of mine who owns a body shop (they also have a mechanic on hand) to check if it was the cat, since i have a broken/loose baffle in there. They disconnected the cat, started it up, and same issue.
They also checked the distributer cap, rotor, those were fine (just replaced in the summer). and the spark plugs were fine too (replaced along with the distribution cap).
It's also been drinking gas like mad lately.
So they were unable to proceed with a diagnosis, so they told me to goto honda. Honda says its my tranny. It failed the stall test, 1st gear was slipping and so it just shifted to 2nd during the stall test (according to honda)
Mods:
Cat-back
SRI (currently)
Here's a summary....
Problems:
- no power (regrardless of gear)
- shifting outa 1st into 2nd is rough
- engine louder
- drinking gas.
Diagnostics done:
- cat and back is fine, no blockage
- not distribution cap
- spark plugs fine
- intake fine (according to Honda)
- Timing is fine (according to honda)
My question is does this sound right to you? Tranny?
One problem i thought was, it might be the EGR valve. but i havnt had time to check that.. since its been freezing here the past few days.. not to mention mad crazy busy with Christmas.
