Here is my predicament!!! , im new to hondas but do understand that "Si" cars are better in every way to the other models... now, im buying a civic but have an oportunity to choose from an 2000 Si, completly stock, with aprox 115k miles or an 2004 Lx, also stock with only 56k miles. My needs are for something reliable, with good mpg's that last me for some years... What you guys recomend. the loaded up, fast Si, but older and with more miles; or The less toys, slower but newer and lower miles and probably more mpg's Lx model? Im going to be driving arround 90 miles a day for work and would like something nice but at the same time fun to drive everyday since im going to be on the road a good time every day... help coments please.. thanks...:(

If you're driving that much I'd get the LX, I didn't find the SI much fun as it has zero torque and the mpg's were less than desirable

the newer lx fits all your needs except the fun to drive, they are boring as hell,

yup, i got in the lx and it looks kind of plain,,, "no moon roof" but some wheels and suspencion would make it at least better looking!!!

95si with a 2000si motor and 94-01 integra LS tranny. youll get hella good gas. also is that LX auto? that hurts gas milage as well.

I would personaly get the si, but then i'm not looking for what you are. If i bought a civic again i would get an si.
An LX is probably better suited for you as other have mentioned but when you get that itch for more power youll be spending money. Thats not to say the Si has got tons of power either but i feel its noticable enough.
Now you'll also be spending more with an si since you get less mpg's and if i recall premium fuel is recomended.

If you plan on working on the car, get the Si. If you just want a reliable daily driver get the LX. For me, it would be the Si hands down but it depends on what you're looking for. Why limit yourself to those two cars though? You could probably pick up a 7th gen EX coupe with mileage somewhere between the LX and the Si for a comparable price and that might be more like what you're hoping for.

Between the two, I would get the LX for what you want. Fun factor won't be there though. With the Si, you have to worry about theft. Keep that in mind.

Lets see...you could yawn for 90 miles a day(LX), or smile for 90 miles a day(Si). Yes the Si is older, requires premium fuel, but if its good condition then you'll kick yourself for not getting it. On my 2000 Si, I get 35mpg highway on 93 octane (Shell V-Power), no lie. Some people say that the Si has no torque? Well they are correct, but drive the LX and then get into the Si, and you won't be sayin it has no torque. There you go, my $.02

90 miles in any car would be boring. I'm pretty sure he'd still be saying there's no torque. Been there done that. Sorry but the SI is nothing special. Only cool thing about it is the vtec cross over.

Personally if its in good condition i would go with the si.
It will have many more options, hp and will simply be more fun to drive.
The si will still get pretty good mpgs my budddys gets 35-36 i believe.
Even though you will be driving alot for the differences in comforts power and abilty to mod if you wanted to id go with the si.

Stop it. Your not helping my case. Although yes 90 miles is boring in any car. What I mean to say is that the Si gets the same mpg as the LX, just with more expensive fuel. Its better for modding, and isnt fugly like the 7th gen.

Don't get butt hurt =P 90 miles a day with a car that gets less mpg's, and I know it does, with more expensive fuel doesn't sound all that great to me. Yes it is better looking but function > form. Personally I wouldn't have limited myself to just those 2 cars. Any other 6gen g2g.

Well guys, here is another bit of info that may be more room for discusion,,, i've been offered the cars for the same price, $6500, and since is a fam. member that is selling them to me , im going to be able to make payments and no interes... Now from my reserch in kbb, the 2000 Si, retails for around $7500 and the 2004 Lx with the low miles retails for aprox $9000, That and the low miles is why i was leaning more thours the Lx,
But like some of you said above, the Lx is bouring and kind of ugly, so the extra toys on the Ex and the better horse power pulls me that way,,, The Si, is in preaty good condition, and both cars are 5spd,
True.. i belive the 8th gen would be a much better car than ether one of them, but can not find one in good conditions for that kind of money...

Now with this new info what you guys thingk???

Personally I would get the Si. Just because of the lack of features with the LX. But honestly if you're just driving daily and you need a reliable a to b car, the LX would suit you just fine. But as previously stated, if you get the urge for more power you will wish you got the Si. It's all up to you though.

i definately prefer the 6th gen over then 7th gen, not just because it looks better, but i think it has a much better feel, i actually have a 6th gen and my wife has a 7th gen so i get to compare them almost on a daily basis, if you wanna make the 90 mile a day ride more enjoyable i would go with the 6th gen

For your needs, I would go with the LX. If you want something fun to work on get a cheap beater car to work on and mod.
