Is it safe to connect an 100 watt amp to 300 watt 6x9 speakers? And will the sound clarity be the decrease?

yeah its safe enough. depending on your amp, they should sound clearer than if connected to your head unit. What really matters is the RMS power of the amp and the speakers. As long as the RMS power of the amp doesn't exceed the RMS power capability of the speakers you should be fine.

Underpowering is just as bad as overpowering your speakers if not worse, An underpowered speaker will attempt to draw more power than the amp can give. That power comes in the form of heat and audible distortion which will kill your speakers also.

I would suggest getting a more powerful amp. If you cannot do that, turn down the gain a little bit on the amp. That will give you more dynamic headroom and prevent some distortion from going through the speaker.

Also, this should probably be in the Audio/Electronics section.....It has nothing to do with a 6th gen aside from the fact you own one! ;) (I reported it, mods will take care of it)

So how exactly do you hook up an amp to your internal speakers?
Just splice the amp speaker wires (out) with the existing OE (factory) wires is the easiest way...... OR remove the OE wires entirely and mount them directly to teh speakers (preferred and not ghetto)... =)

Yup yup!!!!!! If you want to make it easy on yourself, buy an Amp wiring kit from BestBuy or something...

Well s**t that coudl make my battery cry, hell sorry to change the topic but would anyone know why my headunti drops up my subs miss a beat, and then they work. I have a capacitor and I thought it would fix the problem... but it didnt, if anything it made it take longer for the amp to get power.

.:edit:.
I FINALLY GOT MEZ AN EDITZ BUTTONZ!!!!

Caps dont do anything? Youve been into car audio for about 2 years? It doesnt show. Capacitors are PROVEN to help voltage stability and also gives you a couple more DB's on bass hits b/c there is no voltage sag on the amp therefore its able to put out what its supposed to...

How can you diagnose his problem? Can you translate what he said? If you dont know the prob, you prob shouldnt be guessing at how to fix it. =) 8)

A cap is only as good as the alternator that provides the power to it.

I'm guessing this guy is running the 6x9s in the rear? Getting an amp and all that for rear fill doesn't make much sense to me. For front stage, sure... what kind of system is this? That is.. what kinda head unit, front stage, rear fill, subs, amps, etc.

Its all in my sig people, to add to whats in my sig I have a 1.2 farad cap. Shoudl the cap be before or after the fuse? Where is a good ground in the trunk?

Also yes, I am planning on getting a new headunti a deh-m9000 or whatever teh best pioneer is currently.

I have 8 gauge i beleive.
