ok this dudes car asked me for help. he would drive, and unknowingly his car would just turn off. then it will not start. after a few minutes it will.

so today we tuned it up, and changed the spark plugs, wires, distribitor, rotor, and fuel filter. haha all were pretty bad. by the way 80k on the engine.

but now it wont start again. it seems that its just dumping fuel and not sparking anything at all. iono what it is...we let it sit for an hour and still wont start. its only about 50 degrees here so gee im stumped.

i know in accords the ignition module is to blame...but maybe you guys ran into this situation. the car will start in a couple of hours for sure...

his car is a manual 93 civic dx.

air filter is fine. throttle body is fine.

help1!! thanks!!

when it dies and you try to start, can you hear the fuel pump turn on? i have heard (and even experienced) problems with the relay when it gets hot it wont kick on, but it usually just wont start, never had a problem with it dying once it was already running. it usually only gives me probs when its on for a short while, then i shut it off for a couple min, then try to restart and it wont.

check and make sure it has ground and give the starter 12 volts of power directly from the battery, it should just start up.

alright now i have ran into the same problem, now i can really be able to help to diagnose and solve the problem...

first off, i was building a sub enclosure last night, i had the hood wide open and all wires disconnected, its was 44 degrees outside. after i finished everything i hooked everything back up and i went to start the car and i got were clicks, im like s**t dead battery, jump started the car, worked pefect i just noticed whenever i opened or closed the windows the lights would dim like a mother, i figured it wasnt fully charged, so i charged the battery, its full, try to start i get the same result so i went to check the starter even though it clicks thats a sign that it works but i did it anyway because it doesnt hurt to try, gave it 12 volts the car started, perfect for me but when i turn it off and start it again i get the same s**t so i do an alternator test, i simply jump start the car, let run until idle, then i remove the positive terminal, if the car still runs the alternator is good, so the culprit is the battery, got it changed it starts like a champ, i just wanted to share this so if anyone runs into this shitty problem they can diagnose and solve the problem. one thing... a cold battery = a dead battery.

if he did i guess its time to take off his valve cover, check his cams and timing belt for missing teeth, if it does maybe the cams jumped time. zville00si i havent thought of him breaking a camshaft, thanks for the idea, and one note for the battery issue even though i charged the battery and jumped it nermerous times the internal hydrometer still shows green so dont believe it.

I had the same problem in my 94 dx. It would crank over but no spark. It was the igniton control module. That set me back 169.00. I have heard this to be a commen thing with hondas, my dads prelude did the same thing and so have both of my civics.
