Hey there...

Well, I've managed to pick up a 94 LX with a LOT of miles on it. I've already started setting aside money for my engine swap(b16), but until then what else can I do, cosmetic-wise?

I know the basics... rims and lowering and such, but for example, do they make one-piece headlights? All red rear lights? Effects kits, etc?

it all depends on what color it is. When i first got mine, it was red *im painting it* so i did cheap things like painting my rims black, and tinting my windows real dark. Clear lights on the front are classic i think, but only because i cant find a one piece projector set that i like. Consider those things....and dont do decals

Clean

Make it clean, here's mine before and after totalling it:

My Car HERE

Make it clean at first and save money for performance mods (or the engine swap in your case if you want). I had angel eye projectors, red/clear tails, painted all white (from when the back got wrecked), red H's (just for color scheme purposes), and I only had rims, lowered, iceman intake, and a universal muffler. Before it got totalled, I was close to buying a cat-back and some shocks.

169k miles on it and it still ran excellent. Its easy to make it look clean without being looked at as rice.

Next up, 240sx :P

TYC makes a decent one piece headlight assembly. I know a guy that has them on his 5th gen hatch. When I first saw them in a magazine I thought they were gay, but when I actually saw it on a car they look pretty cool.

As for tail lights you can get white over red.

What do you guys mean, "white over red"?

My car is white, and one of the things planned for mid 04 is a respray, as it's pretty beat up. All things in time, of course.

I know about decals (and "Altezza's", and 4" exhausts...). I've got several friends that have been working on their cars for years (1 Greddy Turbo, 1 JRSC and several others with I/H/E) and I've learned much from them.

The reason I need advice however, is that none of them have worked on 4-doors before, and most of them are dealing with newer cars than I have...

Thanks for all the advice, and keep it coming!

Yeah, those tails are nice, but you can find them for ~80-100 shipped on ebay. Good luck man.

Hmmmm..... I didn't like them when I first saw them, but they are growing on me.

Maybe better than plain red.

if you want all read then just buy candy apple red paint from wal-mart or somthing and lightly paint the yellow part of your stock back light.

sadness

I was coming around a sharp curve (very sharp, almost 90 degree sharp) and I fishtailed, panicked (cause Ive never fishtailed before) yanked the steering wheel the same was as the fishtail, and when the rear caught grip, the car went the way I had the steering wheel...which was jumping a ditch and hitting a tree.

I got out of the car with only a burn from the airbag on the side of my face which healed in about a week.

Cheap nice looking "mod" would be Amber Corner lenses.

If you want to be "hardcore" get an intake and cruise around going bah bahhhh haha its pretty funny.

But yeah rims and paint would be nice. Hmm maybe white rims?

No, i'm thinking either gunmetal or powdercoat for rims, when the time comes. White is nice, on the right cars, but not for me. i don't have hte time to keep them clean, and it would drive me nuts to have them dirty.

Ambers huh? Hadn't thought of that...

hmm gunmetal with a polished lip? What size rims you going for?

yeah ambers look nice on white cars. I dont know about clear corners tho. They have different types of clear corners and to me they look better on other cars and stuff like that.

Honestly, while I would love some 17's, I'm probably going to go with 16's. I'm doing this whole thing on a shoe string budget.... and since I insist on having all legit parts, it's gonna take me quite a while.

No credit, and very little spare income, and a wife who's car needs to be maintained on top of all this.

Maybe with a polished lip... I like that look, but I worry that it's gonna look dated fairly quickly.
