The quarter mile time sounds like crap too, but there are soo many variables with racing..mainly the driver. I don't think you needed to go with a bigger engine, you can make plenty of power with whatever engine as long as you approach it correctly. Just inquire more about all the details of that setup until you find a story that makes sense. Once you do that, go and verify it as well. If you're willing to spend your hard earned money on this, then they should understand that you need legitimate info
I will be with the seller and the mechanic tomorrow so i will straighten things out.

The reason I chose this car is because it was built by professionals. It looks good. You should see some of the crap boxes and frankenstiens and the prices their askng on our local classifieds. This guy was a motivated seller because he has too many cars. I mean this thing has sat in a storage locker for the last 8 months

Well there is half the battle. Why dont you just take your time to look it over and see what you have. An all motor civic with that much power won't run and drive like a normal civic, cams that would make that much power will thump pretty hard and it probably won't get that great of MPG. How does it run/drive?
I have not driven it. Its at the shop right now. He wanted to clean it a and do some stuff on it first. Thats all going down tomorrow. I havnt given him all the money yet either.

Quote from seller. The rebuild only has 50 000 km or 25 000 miles on it so i am not worried. but my papa said to get it done so i dont get screwed
My statement still stands, let it get warm and get the numbers. Drive it, watch for smoke etc. If it has been sitting for 8 months, let them put fresh gas in it as well and check the oil. Oil breaks down over time, so dont run around with 8 month old oil in it for long.

Here is the deal. The car is mine but i am not putting it on the road until next month. The owner said that this is a jdm motor that is stock 170 hp. He then did the cams which by the books adds 35hp. He then did the fuel pump and injectors and ceramic headers and full exhaust. Its never been dyno run or put on the 1/4 mile. His guess is 210hp and 14 seconds. We are still working on getting the gas and oil dumped and the compression test done. I want to polish it as soon as it warms up here in edmonton and then more pictures will come.

Just to add nothing was done to the bottom end. Its all stock internals. It was just sleeved when it was rebuilt.

I will dyno it for fun this summer and see what she is pushing. You dont know until you know. I will be definitely hitting the quarter mile once it opens for the season. We are still getting snow up here in canada

Ok, that being weird and all, you realize this car does not have 210hp. These mechanics seem to be idiots.

Good luck
I would rather buy a car from these two idiot mechanic then some of the hack jobs that people have run the s**t out of and now have it posted in the classified. Atleast i know the work done isnt going to be shotty

For reference, my jdm b16a (same motor that's in this car of yours) with a cold air intake, 4-1 big tube header, high flow cat, and full catback exhaust only netted 156whp and 111tq. Cammed or not, you're still a long way out from the 210 estimate. Hopefully it was put together well. It'd be nice to see honda enthusiasts do person to person business without issues.

Either way.... I am happy and that is matters right

I wasn't mentioning anything as a competition, just a reference since you are new to all this. It would be helpful to know the average output for the motors that you're interested in to avoid being screwed over by someone. If you're happy, good for you, you still should be educated in what you're happy with.
