So i see the EX model civic comes with tweeters with a harness to plug into something.....does the other models like DX come with that adapter inside the door panel to make it work without splicing the wires or running new wires? im trying to research this before i go pulling stuff apart.

My EX didn't have tweeters.

And when I bought some OEM tweeters for it they were for a Coupe, which wouldn't fit in my sedan.

No idea on whether the wiring is there or not though.

You gotta splice the wires. There are no plugs. I believe tweeters only came in Si's.

just wondering, when you splice are they robbing rms from your door speakers? If so is there a way around it?

i want to say yes because its adding an extra load and they have a resistance, for example, of like 4 ohms just like door speakers. But maybe if they were wired in a certain fashion (series v parallel) then perhaps it could be done w/out the steal :]

Someone please figure this out.

just saw them, i bet theyre not that great though. I like the molding....i almost feel compelled to grab a set of those and just replace the tweeters w/ alpines. But then thats 100 bucks for tweeters....theyre not that important but it would be nice.

You do not have to splice them in if you have the correct door harness.

Not true. Both of my stock EX coupes ('97 and '98) have had them from the dealership. The tweeters were an option on the EX coupes and all other coupes that didn't get standard. The Si got them standard. Thus far I have not seen an EX coupe that didn't have the tweeters.

For more in depth information on what was and was not optional and standard on US Civics, look here:

Here's an example of the part numbers. These aren't the exact numbers for all years and trims.
