Just bought a civic ex 1998 red coupe. On the way home (300mi) the check engine popped up half way home. the brakes weren't working as they should. The brakes went soft and when I tried to slow down the wheel started shaking. I had this problem all the way home and can't think of anything to fix this along with a burnt smell when touch the brakes! Also had the fuel gauge move up and down as I was driving along with the rpms fluttering. Camshaft sensor maybe? Any help on these problems are greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!!!

I will diagnose the check engine light tommo.. so how do I test my rotors or pads?
The rpms jump then go back to normal and the engine sputters. The car has been sitting for 3 mnths. Any additives you reccomend?
New pads and rotors.

Sounds pretty simple. How much would rotors pads tie rod ends and bearing cost me? Wouldn't hurt just to do it all at once. Any aftermarket reccomendations?
You reccomend ditching the drum brakes I'm the back also?

Anyone have a good link to go step by step? Would the disk brakes in back be worth the effort?
