I have a 99 Civic EX automatic and I'm looking to swap the 200hp prelude engine in there! I cant wait. But i need some info first. Maybe you guys could help me out? I found a engine on ebay for $1200 with tranny, ecu and everything. What do I need for everything to do this swap?? Im going to get it done at a shop. How much total, no bullshit do you think it will cost to do this swap estimating? Do you guys know anyone who has done this? If so what have they said about the handling and everything? Thanks. Oh, and will i have to get rid of the Greddy Evo exhuast system i have on my civic now or will I be able to keep it?

yup, be ready to fork up a lot of money, because you have to do a manual swap also.

and auto with an h22 dont make sense...go to www.hmotorsonline.com its a more reliable place..and im sure there are h22's on there for about the same price as you are gettin at ebay...as far as cost for the swap i say around 500-700 bucks..im not quite sure but h22 doesnt fit perfectly..and need some adjustments..not everyone can swap it, so find a well known place that does swapping ,some ppl might bullshit u and say they can swap it..so research

axles, complete hub assemblies, new front suspension---integra springs work good, motor mounts---not cheap, prolly end up with no a/c, new radiator, fuel pump, upper and lower bars for handling, just a few to name some.

Look at a reputable shop to do this swap, talk to them about it and ensure they know exactly what they are doing, anyone can tell you they have done it, ask for pictures of the swap or how to contact the person with the swap already done.

Why not go K20???

i thought hmotorsonline only has manual h22's??... are you doing the manual conversion too????..... if so thats going to be pretty pricey.... i was looking into doing the swap myself but the labor and all the preperations you have to do with the suspension is BIG $$$$$$.... i changed my mind.... if you have all the suspension and brakes ETC. your looking at almost 5g's just for labor and the engine... thats the average i found most of the ppl that did that swap... give or take... i changed my mind on the h22 and i'm doing the b18c1... for 5g's you could put in a b18c5 and thats a WAY BETTER fit same horse power too but on the other hand what is horse power with out torque

pretty much like everyone else said, goto www.hmotorsonline.com because they got H22A complete swaps for ur civic for about $2-4G (think thats price)

they come with everythin u need (axles, ecu, tranny, motor, everythin) and for $400-450 u can get the Hasport motor mounts

or u could try goin to a junkyard and find a crashed prelude (pref. crashed in sides/rear lol) and rip everythin out, that'll be cheaper but you might not get everything u'll need for the swap

No, im not doing a auto to manual swap. That would be at least 2k more! I dont have that cash. I found a kit on ebay. The auto tranny would be just as good anyway (although some would argue) An H22A, auto sports tranny, engine wiring harness, all required cables, Ecu, distributor, throttle body, injectors, complete intake manifold, alternator, a/c, power steering pump, all brackets and sensors, axels for $1895 free shipping. Then im going to call the local shop to see what they charge to install. I hope i can get everything under $3500. Think its possible?

I think it is a waste of money if you don't do the transmision swap... my brother has a prelude with 18's and two 12" inch subs... and its automatic... i beat him all day up until about 90 mph thats when he catches up there so slow

i think you should look into a B18 swap, rather then an H22..

Im getting an H22a and for the complete change over from hmotorsonline its 2200, plus I talked to a couple different shops and install is 700. If your doing the auto to manual conversion, its another 700. so your looking at 2200 for the engine, and about 1400 for install. Plus since you got a civic, probably another 400 for the hasport kit (mounts, etc.) to get it to fit.

ok i got a solution...sell ur autoo and get the same car thats a stick for cheaper cuz manuals are usually cheaper n e ways...dat way u still can do ur swap with some change left over from selling that auto...and as far as motors go..get a b18c1 or suthin...its a perfect fit and it'll run fine..but if u got $$$ out tha a-hole than i'de do the h22 too....but with 3500 limit i think a b18c1 is ur best bet...

Ok, you guys have helped a lot. But the whole thing about manuals vs automatics, i just dont want to get into it. Im sellin my 99 EX for 8k, and im getting a 93 SI with a gsr and tons of mods already for 55k. Then with the remaining money im customizing the shiznit out of it. lol. You think those are quick? The 93 Gsr swapped SI's??? I hope so. Thanks again.

b18c1 would def. be cheaper but wouldn't be as fast...
where have you been looking at motors? the H22's are the same, if not cheaper than the B18C1's... the biggest difference is in the torque.... and ease of swap.

I think he meant that the whole price with engine and installation incuded that the H22A would be the more costly swap because of the difficulty. No i meant to say $5500, not 55k. If i had 55k i would buy new nsx or something.
